That's nice an all, but if he wanted to be more accurate, he should call it the "Poly LS" since the heads look more like 318 poly heads than Hemi heads.

Although the latest Hemi is not really a "Hemi" in the strictest of terms, I'd say it's more of a hemi than the pictured heads. In any case, the guy put a lot of work into that and that's pretty impressive.

Nice! lot of R&D, but more of a novelty to have I would think, and kind of sad at the HP numbers, as it dosen't take too much to get the LS into 600+ hp range

I will say they got the outward appearance "right". up

That's more than can be said for the Gen III clobbered up with coil packs, wiring, and goofy-looking flat valve covers. Then try to hide the whole mess with a big plastic ding-dong. twocents

The Gen 3 Hemi is a production engine. The twin plugs help emissions (and horsepower) by ensuring a more complete fuel burn. Wiring is essential to the engine management system so that is can monitor things several times a second to optimize power output and economy. Flat valve covers ensure that it will fit between the inner fenders of a production car. The big plastic ding dong is there to quiet the engine down because the thing is going to be in luxury, or near-luxury cars...so intake and accessory noise has to be kept to a minimum.

The "Hemi LS" in the article doesn't have to deal with any of those things...when you don't have to compromise, its easier to make it pretty.

Only $6K for the heads then + + + + +. I would rather just have a real Hemi. There isn't anything special about the LS shortblock.

If form over function bothers you that much Indy sells a set of “traditional” valve covers for the Gen III, it might unknot the panties but who knows

It’s a cool read but if you need a “Hemi” that bad in a package that size the wrecker yard is littered with them. The flow numbers are no better than what you can get from an Apache head. You need to turn the amp to 11, get Thiteks

All that trouble to build a Generation III Hemi out of cobbled together pieces. Stupid.

Yes, the ball Stud Hemi was remarkably like it. See photo.
