I was pre-lubing my engine on the engine stand today. We noticed a lot of oil leaking out past the rocker shaft hold down. Never really noticed this before. Has anyone seen this or rectified it before?

I did take one of the stock hold downs and put an O ring between the shaft and the hold down. Stopped the leak on the top but there was still a leak between the pedestal and the shaft....

Shafts are round I mic'd them at assembly. Max. .001 out of round. The O ring fix's the top. Just wondering if there is something I can try under the shaft between pedestal and shaft?

Its a 340...

put a film of anerobic sealer on the pedestal. It won't come off & get in the oil.

Thanks Rick... Never heard of this sealer before. What is the consistency like? Does it get brittle like Loctite? Or is it closer to a silicone consistency?

Rick Have you ever tried using the Anaerobic sealer on the pedestals before?

Use it sparingly. It gets hard when it cures and may need to be chipped off during disassembly. I've used it when I had tapered shims under the shafts.
