I like those FWD turbo cars but not a lot a value in them.

Both of those guys are in for an uphill battle if they think they'll get near that price.

Yes: They are interesting all right but no one cares enough to pay what they are asking.

I would pay that much for a 1987 ShelbyZ in the same condition.

Pretty cool cars. Just don't plan on reselling. Not saying I don't think they are neat, just a limited market I believe.

I'd love to have the blue one. Just not at $5200.

If the blue one is as advertised, and is rust free, not sure how you could go wrong at $5,200 if you wanted one of these. shruggy

It's great to see 1980s cars gaining interest. I guess people finally realized that these cars are disappearing.

There's a very clean 1988 ShelbyZ with T-tops for sale on FB for $5000. If I was in the position to add another car to my collection it would be in my garage already.

I had my 93 R/T for sale and got tired of the lowball offers and I decided to keep it. As soon as winter moves outta here it is going back on the road and getting turned up and enjoyed again.

Having purchased a few of these new back in the day I can definitely say the eighties were a true low point in automobile design and execution. So much plastic, so many angles, so little performance. Other then for nostalgia purposes, I can't figure out why anyone would want one. IMHO. Amazing where we are today.

Those cars get decent mpg and can be made to run pretty fast. There is a faded blue paint Chrysler minivan here that has a turbo 4 cylinder that's been modded and it's fast enough to embarrass most muscle cars old and new.

I'd take one of those in nice shape for a driver vs say a new Charger/Challenger.

I think a lot of people not into old cars would say the same about E bodies. Most were slow slow slow 318 and slant 6 cars with anemic steering and brakes, topped off with interior panels that were slabs of cheap plastic. A lot of the old hi-po cars would have a tough time keeping up with a modern 300hp minivan!

Ahh, but those e-bodies sure have aged better then my old Shelby Daytona/Charger/Shadow. That is why they are so popular today. I'm not so optimistic for my old FWD mopars.

I agree. My Dad always used to talk about the glory days. He bought a 73 Road Runner brand new; his parents would only allow him to buy a 318. In my early years, we'd go to the Nats and I see these things run in the 15-16 second range and would just look at him like he must have been on something back then because to me, even at 10 years old, the things were just painfully slow.

Years later, he bought a 69 Road Runner 383 which he added some day two mods to. At the track, I put 3-4 car lengths on him with a 93 mustang with a few bolt ons and I didn't thing the Mustang was that fast either.

I still my 85 turbo z, my 1st car... I wouldn't sell it for 5k and it needs a lot of work. But I would pay 500 for the same car laugh2 I had an 89 shelby, rebuilt engine, couldn't get 1k for it and it was solid... sold a few parts and got my $ out of it, kept some and scrapped the rest.

Really nice ones will bring decent money, but my experience is, turbo dodge people are some of the cheapest out there!

Some cars id not take for free and the group this fits in is one, you could race and win if the other guy didnt realize YOU were actually racing.

The 2.2 was a cam eating dog, the only other car I know of that a replacement cam had no warranty was the ford pinto.

I had an 85 Turbo Z auto and loved it at the time. I had a problem with the vacuum lines being replaced with lower temp vacuum hoses by the previous owner and melting closed. Then I tried buying a used set (no replacement at the time) then trading it off. I liked how low the car set but the turbo lag was slow. I liked when the turbo kicked in and it handled well. Good car overall.

I'll agree with you there. I don't see the fwd mopars ever attaining the status of the old mopars, or even the 80's mustangs and camarobirds for that matter. And those sure have been ratcheting in up price around here lately for nice rust-free examples. I still enjoy seeing the 80's mopars around, in the last year I have only seen 1 on the road, a k-car in amazingly mint condition.

I have pulled apart a couple with bad cams, but never seen it in the 88+ models when they went to the roller rockers.

Considering a basic B-body project is still far north of $5000, $5000 for clean Turbo Daytona doesn't sound that bad.

Can't sell now as I promised both my kids I would teach them how to drive a standard this summer, It's my daughter that's the most excited to drive that car.
