Have a coolant leak, 69 Charger 440 with A/C, dripping from idler bracket lower bolt area. Does anyone know if either of the 2 idler bracket bolts enters a water jacket?

No they don't enter a water jacket. They are one inch deep and stop. But they do go through the water pump housing and attach it to the block. Could be heater hoses.

Here are pictures of an AC car with the idler removed and installed.

I'm working on a 1957 392 and I cannot believe how many bolt holes go into the water jackets. Crazy really.

I fought my newly rebuilt 70 Charger 440 with a water leak dripping from the lower rad hose. Ended up being the thermostat housing leaking behind the AC compressor. Had to remove it to find the leak. They can leak from anyplace.

for diagnosing you can get a tank valve from O'reillys for less than $3 & screw it into the 1/8 NPT cooling temp sender port & pump it up to 10 lbs with shop air. some dish soap in a squirt bottle will help show bubbles.

Thx all, appreciate replies. The air pressure test with temp sender port is great idea.

Now that is a slick idea and I am kicking myself for not thinking about it before.

Yep, works great.
I got the idea from Robert as well.
Smart fella. up

Be careful using the air though.
Radiator only holds up to about 16# in good shape.
Don't need near that for leak to show itself.
I used a hand held bicycle pump.

I have mechanical Aptitude.
I can screw up anything.
