What starter are you using with the JW bell housing on a Big Block.

Autozone 17010. Tell them you have an 88 fifth ave. with a 318. About $75 with a lifetime warranty.

First off let me say I have a Powerglide with the JW Bell housing on it.I had a starter in the shop off a 99 Dakota that had the 5.2 engine in it and with 4 shims the teeth on the starter is still touching the flywheel.Wanted to see what other people are running before I went I bought one..

I made a plate the thickness of the shim I needed to bolt the starter up to the bell. It looks like the mounting face of the starter. JW makes an extension for the nose or you could have them both made.

FWIW, my shim ended up being .77 thick. I think it had more to do with the Meziere wheel than anything else...
