MY 18 year old just got his license, I see Hertz has '16 Darts for between 9900 and 10.5k with about 40k rounds. They look like a smaller version of the Charger. What is the reliability of these cars. I know they didn't sell very well. Hertz has the '16 Focus for the same money.

Everyone I know that had one had very few issues with them.

Dodge Dart U.S. Sales
Dodge Dart Canadian Sales
2012 25,304 3460
2013 83,388 9870
2014 83,858 7623
2015 87,392 3061
2016 43,402 1424
2017 10,082 533
2018 83 1

They sold good until 2016, go find that 1 Canadian Dart sold in 2018 and you will have a rare car... biggrin

I had a 14, my daughter leased a 15.

Zero problems with either of them. Both had the 2.0 engine. Mine was a manual, hers an auto.

Great cars and if I had a use for a small commuter car, I would get another.

I use a '14 as a daily driver and it's been a reliable car, I've got 57K miles on mine now.
The low profile tires with my rally package don't get along with Chicago area roads very well but at least the steering and handling are excellent to help in swerving around tire wrecking potholes!
Be careful of late model Focus's. They had problems with the automatic transmissions. I don't know if they resolved that problem and if so what year they did get it fixed, but if you search the web you'll find lots of info on the problem.

Original owner of a 2014 GT automatic here. 41000 miles
No major issues so far but uses more oil than I like.
In temps below 15F it idles at 1800 until the eng temp reaches 160
which can take 10-15 minutes!

The ride is very firm which sucks on rough roads...

My wife and I bought a used 16 back in October with 7500 miles on it. It's got almost 14k on it now. The only issue I have with it is that the center overhead console rattles like crazy when the sun comes out. It's fairly quiet on cloudy days. The dealership said there was a TSB on the issue and put some anti-rattle tape on it but it still rattles. I'm going to try some strip caulk on the two clips and see if that quiets it down.

I like the looks of it and the interior is nice...even on our base model. We have the Rallye package which makes the ride a little stiffer but not horrible. What's odd is that it doesn't have automatic headlights. It's funny how you get used to a feature and really miss it if another vehicle doesn't have it.

I think I'm going to put some stripes on it this spring...and maybe a chrome exhaust tip that I have sitting around. Last time I checked, my wife is getting an average of 31mpg with it. It's a little cramped with a rear facing child seat in the back.(I'm 6'2")

I have a 16 2.0/manual trans. car hit 40K miles today, Its been good. Has a random gauge cluster issue that the dealer cant find, but it doesn't annoy me too much. I bought mine to do my 114 mile daily commute. Its been good, I drive it like a stole it.

We just bought a 14 for my fiancé about 3 weeks ago. Picked it up for $11,900 with 6200 miles on it. It's a 2.4 auto. So far, we really like it. She has a 90 mile round trip to work each day. the 2000 Durango at 13-14mpg's was eating her up.

So far, she's getting a little over 32mpg.

Although it's way too new to tell, it's been good so far.

Got the dealer to throw in a Demon hat as part of the deal. I agreed to pay $70 a month for it so; I'll have a real expensive hat once said and done.

Bought both of my wife's last cars that were rental car and so far no big issues. Her 2004 Sebring convertible was an Orlando rental and it went good for 11 years before we bought her 2015 200 which was a rental out of Nashville. up

Those must be unsold '16's. Dealer by me has 7 of them. Must be tired of floor planning 2 year old new cars.

There is a reason they are 'cheap' and its not because they want to make sure that all Americans get a reasonable car for not a lot of money

I had a '14 Rallye with a 2.4/6 speed auto. Put 43K miles on it in 24 months and had 0 issues with it. It would get 32 mpg on the highway with the cruise set at 80.

Bought a 2016 last summer from Larry Roesch (CMC used to have the swap meet there so free plug for them) Was a dealer loaner with 2K miles.. now has 8K.

Great car, just drove it 6 hrs Sunday.. 35 MPG on hwy.. reasonably comfortable. Good leg room in back..
Has a throaty exhaust note...

Wife's replacement for our 2000 Neon that the daughter drives now.

I bought a '16 Dart SXT Rallye brand new in September of 2016. It has 12,000 miles on it, 2.0 / 6 speed manual. It's the replacement daily driver for me coming from a '98 neon. The thing is great, I've had one issue where the radio (8.4 inch UConnect) will randomly just shut itself off either while I'm driving or in the morning as I'm pulling out of the driveway, only seems to do it in the colder weather. I had it back to the dealership last year with less than 6000 miles on it because it was leaking antifreeze, they replaced the radiator hose assembly and both upper and lower hoses. I had it into the dealership this week because I thought I smelled anti-freeze and couldn't find the leak, they pressure tested it and could not find anything.

I've changed the oil (0W 20) every 3000 miles, and rotated the tires every 6000 miles. It is not a powerhouse by any means, even with the 6 speed, but it gets the job done, and I've seen 36-38 mpg multiple times, even seen low 30 mpg around town as my commute has 0 highway miles.

I like mine, aside from the coolant and radio issue I've had a blast with it, picked it up for 0% financing and I'm enjoying it.

The leak might be a pin hole or crack in your coolant tank, they replaced mine twice under warranty. tsk

SP392: Leading up to those replacements, where did you notice the leak? I've noticed it on the back side of my wheels, at first I thought it was break fluid, but I'm almost certain it was anti-freeze. Just wanted to see if you had a similar experience? The supposed "leak" that I think I've got this time is on the passenger side of the car near the coolant tank / overflow bottle, so I wouldn't rule it out at all.....
