New springs on my '74 Charger have the rear end sitting a bit too high for my liking, and would like to add lowering blocks. Maybe 2 inches...

Due to the revised rear spring for '73-'74 with insulators, I'm not sure how to proceed. I did some research and all I came up with is something about using a bushing for the spring pin, and using a '71-'72 style spring plate to eliminate the insulator set up.

Is this really doable, and can anyone break this down as to how to do this and what parts I would need to acquire?

Thanks!

If you remove the spring isolators and put the spring on the axle pad it will probably raise the car a bit.The axle pad also has a larger I.D. locating hole for the isolator vs the standard spring pin on non-isolated axles, that will need spaced/bushed.

I'd drive it for awhile and see if the springs settle first.

Could try removing the bottom leaf but I'm not sure you can do that with the iso clamp setup.

Earlier cars you could flip the front hanger upside down and get an inch of drop, just watch the pinion angle.

I added 1" spacers between spring and isolator.

Had to remove the stud bushing and installed it over the block pin to fit into the isolator.

then added alluminium spacers too to the U bolts, between both plates, just to keep safe the isolators from being hardly smashed when tightening.

will find the pic and post.

EDITING... not easy to see, but... there is the block in between the isolator and spring and the shiny pieces are the aluminium spacers which I made and installed like somehow as a colapsible bushing to keep the isolators safe

and is true, there is a bushing on guide stud. This guide stud is also thicker than earliers ( 3/8" instead 5/16" from earliers )

I removed the top bushing and installed on top of the spacer guide.

here the non iso assembly vs the iso assembly

I was on a similar issue with new springs being higher than should be hence the reason I installed the blocks, but after 10 years riding my car ( plus 4 and a half sitting at body shop ) I think now can get back the assembly without the block spacer

If I wanted to eliminate the isolator and add lowering blocks, what would I need to do that?

get 71/72 B body lower shock plates ( maybe earliers works too ? ) and remove the top and bottom guide stud bushings. maybe even replace the stud itself ( stud threads can not be enough )

I guess even the guide studs on 73/74 are 3/8" from the 5/16" used on earliers, should still fit fine. The bottom shock plate should still get room to acomodate the "bigger" studs.

mostly sure will need also shorter U bolts, like earliers

Oh! forgot.

fill the axle pedestal hole for it... welding a thick washer.

Or replace the pedestal
