My Dana 60 Chrome cover is leaking a tad from the fill plug. Is it a good idea to use Teflon Tape on it or not? It is not over filled.

Pull the plug and wire wheel the threads to remove the chrome, chase the hole in the cover with a tap the to do the same. Use a bit of non hardening gasket sealant like Permatex #3 and it should be leak free pretty much forever.

I use white Teflon sealer from the tube, never a leak.
