I’m almost done getting parts for my 408 build and I have 2 parts left I’m considering, even though I am WAY over budget (but hey, I’m stimulating the economy right?).
1. Do I NEED a girdle for the bottom end if I am already using studs. 2. Would a Victor 340 intake make a significant change in power (like take the car from low 11’s to high 10’s) over the Air-gap.
Here is the rest of the combo right as of right now:
360 block, Eagle 4.00 inch steel crank, Scat I-beams, 10.6:1 compression Eddy heads with stage 2 port from Shady Dell (being sent to Ryan today) Comp XE286R solid roller 248/254 @ 0.05, .576/.582 lift, Air-Gap (If I don’t get a Victor 340), 750 dp 727, 8 inch PTC converter, 4.10 gear, 28x11.5 Hoosier QTP, 3250 lbs with driver.
Thanks in advance,
Dave

Im building a similat stroker, mine is a K1 crank, Childs track master rods, diamond pistons, and Im not going to be racing the car a lot, but for what the girdle kit is priced at from Hughes why not. Its a reasonable priced piece of insurance. If you already have the studs, just order the girdle and instructions.
Im running B1BA heads, and 10.5:1 comp, hydro roller cam, and the thing should be pretty bullet proof to a certain point.
I would.

Oh you're the guy I talked to on the 3 way convo the other day with his wife.... You should have said you post on moparts. Never know who I'm talking to....
No girdle.... Just put ARP studs in it. No windage tray....
If you don't already have a manifold, I'd buy the Victor instead of the AG.
What header?
Try to work on borrowing bigger carb sometime in future for track testing to see if does anything. If that's a basic 4779 Holley 750 DP, you'll probably find some power going to something little more "trick" or bigger like a 950 HP or 950 Pro Form etc. See if you can find someone to borrow one from just to try at a test/tune day etc. Or think about a Pro Form main body for it......

Holy crap that was funny!...yes that's me from the other day. Ryan, The car has Headman Hustlers with 1 3/4 primary's. The carb started life as a Holley 650 dp...it now has a Proform main body.

I would agree with Ryan. To get in the 10's it will need more cash.

Mine has a solid flat tappet, ported factory heads and has gone 10.52 @ 126 with an old 750 dp. Only mod is a milled off air horn. It has gone 6.59 @ 104 in the 1/8 with that carb, which would be close to 10.40 in the 1/4. The cam at the time had 263 dur @ .050 and 607" lift. If everything is working good together he can reach the 10's with a 750 with some tuning.

Well if you get it together and it runs low 11s you can always swap that Hemi/tow truck 727 trans for a 904 and run high 10s. The ol Duster runs 10.70-80s with junk J heads smaller cam 4.10 gears and a 904. We use an ancient BG 850 opened up to a 1000cfm so I would get a HP series.,... probably a 950.....
