I am thinking about buying my wife a new '18 Grand Cherokee 4 WD. They seem to be rated fairly highly except on overall reliability, I am curious as to what commonly goes wrong on them? I test drove one and was impressed with the drive quality and the v-6 was smooth and powerful enough. Anyone know of issues with the 3.6 vvt engine? Also, on dealer websites, they speak of different 4 wd systems available, but other than mentioning the quadratrac system, there is no info on the differences. I have never had a Jeep and assume the q-track is an all wheel drive system? Any Jeep gurus that can help me out? Thanks, Lee.

my mom has a 2014 JGC overland.

It drives great, zero reliability issues. Although it did have the typical loose ground that caused the air suspension to go haywire.
Great fit and finish, super quiet on road trips.

2 transfer case options

quadra trac 1, single speed, full time case

Quadra trac 2, 2 speed, full time unit

Quadra Drive 2, is the same case as trac2, but with an electronic limited slip rear.

They are really easy to find as rentals so book one for a week and live with it and see if you still want one.

I did. Off the start I liked everything about it. After the 3rd day I began to question if this thing is really worth what the asking price is. By day 5 I really couldn't justify the outrageous price tag for what you get: a glorified minivan. When I turned it in at the end of the week, I was glad to give it back.

Bought something else.
