Is there any differences in the rubber to air cleaner lid on a 70 roadrunner 4 barrel vs. 6 pac set up? I currently have a 4 barrel and i'm looking into putting a 6 pac on my 383. Is there any differences in the air-grabber under hood construction to line up with the larger oval air cleaner lid, if so where can I find.
Thanks.

No. The air cleaner bases are what are different. There are four different ones; 383, 440, 440+6 and Hemi

if you are putting a 6 pack on a 383 under a airgrabber hood..
you will have height issues with the aircleaner to the hood
fit as the 440 engines will sit a bit higher
then a 383 engine will.
they had 2 different 4bbl airgrabber aircleaner versions for that reason.
they don't have 2 different 6 pack aircleaner versions that I'm aware of as they only were used with a 440 from the factory.

These guys are correct, but I have a very simple solution for you...

1. Morty426 is correct about 4 air-grabber air cleaners. The 383 4bbl. and 440 4bbl. have the same lid, but the 383's base is about 1" taller in the area where the base slides on the top of the carburetor. Setting on the ground, the 383 bases will stand up off the ground & 440 bases will set flat.

2. I don't believe the shorter 383 will hurt your too much (if at all). It might actually HELP you since you will have about 1" extra hood clearance to play with....just enough for some nitrous plates, some vapor lock resistant carb spacers, or just regular carb spacers. GO FOR IT

3. And to answer your specific question, the 4 bbl. air cleaner lids are round in 1970 & the six pack air cleaners are big/oval. The 69 4-barrel air cleaner will fit in a 70 hood, but not the 69 six pack air cleaner, fyi.
