I have a 440 motor that was brought to me to assemble with a OEM rear sump oil pan that the customer doesn't know what year or which type Mopar chassis that it came off of confused help
I assumed that it was off a Class A motorhome motor but it may not be, it might be off of a 413 truck motor he had confused
Do any of you know the stock depth and width of the stock 440 or 400 D series pickup oil pans help
Thanks in advance, this will help me decide if it needs 6 quarts or eight quarts of oil in this pan help

I got a pan off a Dodge class A chassis that was a front sump.
I believe the pre '72 pickups also used this pan.
The Mopar performance books had some pan dimensions, I'll see if I can find mine.
'72-'93 D and B chassis are rear sump.
All trucks that I've checked hold at least one quart more than the equivalent pass car pan.
Although HP 440s and Hemis might be the exception.
Try leveling the pan and put 6 quarts of water in it, 8 is probably too much!

Front sump pans were class A motor home and 71-older pickups trucks.
72-up pickup trucks are rear sumps and are 6 qts.

I agree

MH is front sump

car is center sump

72 up D/W chassis is rear sump.

my 78 MH 440 had a front sump pan with windage tray.

I installed the rear sump pan/pick up tube and turned the tray around IIRC.

FYI..also be sure to plug the oil dip tube hole in the block if not used.

my car center sump used the block hole. my 78 truck pan has the tube down in the side of pan.

MY truck pan is a 6 qrts mocked up on the bench 7 qrts with a large filter.

361's and 413's are rear sump 8 quart pans in medium duty D500-D800's if Cab has one of those it will be 8.

Cab, my big block shed is frozen shut so I couldn't get a really good measurement for you, had to crawl under a parts truck and 2wd's with flat tires aren't crawling friendly.

My measurements were 6" height, from the pan rail to the bottom and 9" wide. The width one is probably the least accurate as it was a bit of a pain.

Thanks to all of you for the help bow up
I ran this motor on a engine run stand last week with 8 quarts in it to break in the cam and lifters, I didn't see any bubbles or frothing on the dipstick that screws into the oil pan fitting so I thought I should ask for help on here to see if I can figure out if this pan is the pickup or the larger truck pan confused
Thanks again for all the help up Cab
