OK< I RETURNED ITEM AND SHOULD GET REFUND IN FEW DAYS.First link is what I wanted second link is what was sent. The new compressor he sent, I could have got 8 dollars less from other sellers. There was another company wanting 70.00 for the one I wanted and now it is 40.00. I sent them a message and they said they use stock photo from the company made item.
Without getting specific.I did not find answer on e.bay and did not want to ask them because I may have to pay shipping return that is at least 1/3 cost of item.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Campbell-Hausfield-RP3200-12-Volt-Inflator-With-Light/282432675176?epid=1100045326&hash=item41c24c9d68:g:RSsAAOSw8-xZ0yc5

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Campbell-Hausfeld-RP3200-12-Volt-Inflator-and-Worklight-New-Free-Shipping/162436496275?epid=1904529543&hash=item25d1f83b93:g:uc8AAOSwuxFYzZn-

Let's say for example I had a general electric hair dryer that was about 15 years old, and i really liked it but it broke. I found a company that had a picture of the old style different shape and color than the new models. Said they had several of them and they were new. The listing though had the model number of the newest model. I did not know my old model number and was going on the picture.
They send the unit and it is the new model. They do say in listing 30 day return, buyer pays shipping.
I am not sure if techinally it was not as described. It had the newest model number, but like I said was going by the picture which is totally different from the new model.
I think the only way to get complete refund is to say I never received it. The company has 10,000 feedback or so and about 800 negative the last year. Several people state bait and switch.
Item was 34.00 including free shipping. I think if I sent it back, IT WOULD COST ME ABOUT 15.00

Tell ebay it's not as described. Pictures are part of the description, in my book at least.

Went through a similar thing with item not as described. 1st copy and save the pictures from the auction, 2nd, take pictures of the item you received. Open a case of Item not as described, explain what you have said here, send pictures of the item received and let them investigate. Unless more facts than what you have shared, should be an easy refund from ebay and PP. My seller got quite snotty before it was all done, so I left negative feedback and the seller tried to blackmail and harass via ebay messaging, turned them in again and after ebay contacted them, never heard a word back again. They did send a prepaid label for the item.

Let us know how it works out. Good luck and stand your ground!

Did the add have something to the effect of “ picture for reference only” or something like that?
Summit does this a lot, say, wi5h a cam shaft. They aren’t going to take a picture of every part number of cam they carry, we all know what a cam looks like.

Can you put the link to the item up?

Id just get over it and move on.

Ive liked the same shoes for the last 10 years, every two ive bought a pair from ebay and never a issue.

This time the same box info from all the old ones got me a chaeply made pair of lesser material and quality and there pic still showed the good kind I used to get.

Baaa im wearing them, and have gotten over it.

In todays world I ask for pics and ask alot of questions as in the end im the only one who seems to care what I get and im responsible for my own happiness and contentment but the day I got the cheaper china shoes I was neither happy or content.

Just put on your dull razar blade group music and smoke some hay and all will be ok.

Personally I wouldn't buy from anyone with 800 negative feedbacks in a year. Hope you get a full refund.

That's one of those cases where i'd complain to ebay about it but if you have to pay almost half it's value in shipping to get a refund there's no point... spend $30 something bucks and have something to show for it or $15 and nothing.

The only time I've had a problem with ebay the sellers name was Frank. But I don't think he sells hair dryers.

Good thing he didn't have 4 of those hair dryers in the picture or the OP would be claiming he should have gotten 4 of them because he was "going by the picture", even though the write up said each.

The same guy that posted on a car message board asking what to do about a serious medical problem (instead of asking a doctor), and also if he should date 80 year old women (instead of knowing on his own that he should not), is now posting to ask what he should do in order to not be out $15.00. Good to see that things appear to be on the upswing for you.

I would notify the seller and explained that's not what you were advertising. You thought you were getting item pictured and you would like a prepaid stamp to sent it back to him.If he refuses then contact e-bay or pay shipping yourself or both.Good luck.

His "going by the picture" is as foolish a claim of bait and switch as the "I saw 4 in the picture but only got 1" claim would be.

That is a good point about the picture part. For most people if they were buying a Charger emblem on ebay and that's what the description said but the picture was of a Challenger emblem they'd either ignore that auction or ask the seller first what he's really selling.

Always look at the sellers feedback score BEFORE bidding, and if they have less than 99.8 % positive, go in and read what the negatives are for .

So he had the model number in the auction and it's the seller's fault you didn't take 5 seconds to google the model number? I get he had the wrong picture but I think you are partially to blame as well.

If you received an item that IS different than what the picture the seller posted on the auction you need to open up a case with e-Bay and use the option "item not as described". Upload a pic of the item you received.
The seller will have to pay to have the item shipped back plus refund 100%
of the price you paid plus original shipping costs. If he refuses, e-Bay WILL decide the case in your favor and automatically refund the amount to you.

Again this is only if the description or picture was not properly represented.

Or just look at it this way. The food in the bag never matches the pictures on the menu board.
If he listed the model number and you got the model number just use the dang thing. It is a 30 dollar hair dryer not NOS hemi parts.

OK, Update. E.bay does state if item received is not what is pictured, you get total refund. I made a return request, the sent a shipping label to print and return.
Had to get my printer going again, and you only have a few days to act.
The real item was not a hair dryer, that was an example. What it was , a Campbell Hausfield 13 volt tire inflator. I had a blue one that was about 15 years old. The new ones are black and do not look anything like what was sent. I wanted the old stlye because it lasted so long. I did try out the one sent and did not like it.
I also flagged his ad as being decipetive. I have no idea why a big tool company would be using a 12 year old or so picture.
Someone has a used one but it is 39.00.

It was a 34.00 item. I remember some of the medical post, and I did get treated. Anyway, you must be a big yorker fan to remember so much about me, anything else you would like to know??

I would throw my new hair dryer in the tool box and use it to dry paint and remove decals, and go back to find another of the ones I thought I was getting - or I would just dry my hair with the one I got. I buy old NOS and mint condition US made electric tools and always verify part numbers and photos. If I make a mistake, I resell it or keep it and just move on.

And I would be more discreet with personal information. The internet never forgets.

I did this once. for a small item under $20. I called the eBay support line, and was very nice to the guy on the phone. And eBay refunded my money, and i kept the item. Well, that's how it worked a few years ago.

$34 item that you could get refunded if you paid $15 to ship it back, according to your post. That makes this post about how to save $15.

I only remember this stuff because you post some pretty strange things here. They're hard to miss. And no, I don't want to know more. Does that mean you'll stop telling us?

A seller tweaked the color of a shirt to make it look more vibrant and green than it was. When I got it, the thing looked nothing like the picture. I gave him bad feedback after he refused to take it back and he gave me feedback saying I was trying to avoid paying for the thing. eBay is full of richard craniums.

Most big sellers probably let stuff like that slip from time to time but the seller should have said in the listing that the item may vary in style or color in the listing so the buyer would know he may not get what is shown. Then the buyer can make his decision based on that. He should get his money back. For me, I rather have a old stock item that was made in the USA and not some recently made China junk.

The seller had the part number of the product in the add.

There's a little box you can click on that says "Ask seller a question".

I was looking for a Snap-On item. Found one, except the photo didn't match the description. Sooo...I asked. Honest mistake, it was what I needed, bought it, happy ending. People make mistakes. It's not hard to figure out.

If an item design substantially changes, the part number usually does as well. I use part numbers as well as photos. If they don't match, I try to figure out why or I don't buy it.

i sold an item recently at a good price with the "make an offer" deal. shipped it out, buyer got it in a couple of days, then e-mailed me with the "item didn't match the description" line. this was a surprise because i always write up an honest description, even accenting flaws over quality, and include the maximum amount of pictures so the buyer gets a fair idea of the item. i also have the line : "any and all questions answered cheerfully. additional pictures available upon request." so i mail back the guy and ask just how was this item not as advertised ? turns out he thought i may have mailed him the wrong item because it was way better than the pics showed. it was the premium upgrade in an old style box. he just wanted to make sure i didn't send him the wrong item by mistake if i had two for sale! he got a deal, i made out, and everyone was happy. he never asked any questions, and the item only took until the day after i listed it to sell. ya just never know.

I like the black one better. One of my buddies would have had a new inflator, or it would have gone into somebody's trunk before I spent 15 to get 34 back.
