So he had the model number in the auction and it's the seller's fault you didn't take 5 seconds to google the model number? I get he had the wrong picture but I think you are partially to blame as well.

Yeah, it's your fault the seller was too lazy to take new pictures.

Did you pay by Paypal? I believe Paypal will reimburse you a set amount of return shipping $ each year.

If you received an item that IS different than what the picture the seller posted on the auction you need to open up a case with e-Bay and use the option "item not as described". Upload a pic of the item you received.
The seller will have to pay to have the item shipped back plus refund 100%
of the price you paid plus original shipping costs. If he refuses, e-Bay WILL decide the case in your favor and automatically refund the amount to you.

Again this is only if the description or picture was not properly represented.

Or just look at it this way. The food in the bag never matches the pictures on the menu board.
If he listed the model number and you got the model number just use the dang thing. It is a 30 dollar hair dryer not NOS hemi parts.

OK, Update. E.bay does state if item received is not what is pictured, you get total refund. I made a return request, the sent a shipping label to print and return.
Had to get my printer going again, and you only have a few days to act.
The real item was not a hair dryer, that was an example. What it was , a Campbell Hausfield 13 volt tire inflator. I had a blue one that was about 15 years old. The new ones are black and do not look anything like what was sent. I wanted the old stlye because it lasted so long. I did try out the one sent and did not like it.
I also flagged his ad as being decipetive. I have no idea why a big tool company would be using a 12 year old or so picture.
Someone has a used one but it is 39.00.

"The same guy that posted on a car message board asking what to do about a serious medical problem (instead of asking a doctor), and also if he should date 80 year old women (instead of knowing on his own that he should not), is now posting to ask what he should do in order to not be out $15.00. Good to see that things appear to be on the upswing for you."

It was a 34.00 item. I remember some of the medical post, and I did get treated. Anyway, you must be a big yorker fan to remember so much about me, anything else you would like to know??

I would throw my new hair dryer in the tool box and use it to dry paint and remove decals, and go back to find another of the ones I thought I was getting - or I would just dry my hair with the one I got. I buy old NOS and mint condition US made electric tools and always verify part numbers and photos. If I make a mistake, I resell it or keep it and just move on.

And I would be more discreet with personal information. The internet never forgets.

I did this once. for a small item under $20. I called the eBay support line, and was very nice to the guy on the phone. And eBay refunded my money, and i kept the item. Well, that's how it worked a few years ago.

$34 item that you could get refunded if you paid $15 to ship it back, according to your post. That makes this post about how to save $15.

I only remember this stuff because you post some pretty strange things here. They're hard to miss. And no, I don't want to know more. Does that mean you'll stop telling us?

A seller tweaked the color of a shirt to make it look more vibrant and green than it was. When I got it, the thing looked nothing like the picture. I gave him bad feedback after he refused to take it back and he gave me feedback saying I was trying to avoid paying for the thing. eBay is full of richard craniums.

Most big sellers probably let stuff like that slip from time to time but the seller should have said in the listing that the item may vary in style or color in the listing so the buyer would know he may not get what is shown. Then the buyer can make his decision based on that. He should get his money back. For me, I rather have a old stock item that was made in the USA and not some recently made China junk.

The seller had the part number of the product in the add.

If the seller would followed the rules there would be no issue here. So many don`t want to follow the rules.

There's a little box you can click on that says "Ask seller a question".

I was looking for a Snap-On item. Found one, except the photo didn't match the description. Sooo...I asked. Honest mistake, it was what I needed, bought it, happy ending. People make mistakes. It's not hard to figure out.

If an item design substantially changes, the part number usually does as well. I use part numbers as well as photos. If they don't match, I try to figure out why or I don't buy it.

i sold an item recently at a good price with the "make an offer" deal. shipped it out, buyer got it in a couple of days, then e-mailed me with the "item didn't match the description" line. this was a surprise because i always write up an honest description, even accenting flaws over quality, and include the maximum amount of pictures so the buyer gets a fair idea of the item. i also have the line : "any and all questions answered cheerfully. additional pictures available upon request." so i mail back the guy and ask just how was this item not as advertised ? turns out he thought i may have mailed him the wrong item because it was way better than the pics showed. it was the premium upgrade in an old style box. he just wanted to make sure i didn't send him the wrong item by mistake if i had two for sale! he got a deal, i made out, and everyone was happy. he never asked any questions, and the item only took until the day after i listed it to sell. ya just never know.

OK< I RETURNED ITEM AND SHOULD GET REFUND IN FEW DAYS.First link is what I wanted second link is what was sent. The new compressor he sent, I could have got 8 dollars less from other sellers. There was another company wanting 70.00 for the one I wanted and now it is 40.00. I sent them a message and they said they use stock photo from the company made item.
