What is the minimum thickness a ear or plate should be? I need as thin as possible to avoid interference with my water pump and fan assembly.
72 RR, Pump gas 440, 452s, 3800 lbs, Corked, ET Radials,. 11.33@117.72.
Same car, bone stock 346s, 9.5 comp, baby solid. 12.24@110.

1/4 inch, but make sure you put in good fore/aft limiter. we have done 1/4 inch no problem with 850-900 horsepower.

I have a 1/4" plate on mine w/ no problems. You can mill the back side of your water pump housing to offset the thickness of the plate if you need to.  CHIP

Depends do you like cracking tailshafts and trans cases? Cause I've always heard and been told a solid trans mount was a no no.
Granted I've seen a 9.40 hemi car run a front plate and poly trans mount and not break anything yet, but I wouldn't suggest that either.
