I have a 71 RR340 w/ac. I would like to put a single 4bbl 426H in it, however it looks like the a/c lines coming out of the firewall might have interference with the valve covers, maybe not even enough room for 90 degree fittings. Anyone have engine compartment pics of a 71 Hemi B-body. Thanks, Steve The 71 B body G-Series wingcars that I built/fabricated were HEMI equipped running Sanden compressors positioned under the alternator, all the firewall AC components were factory issue Mike

You can make anything work, but there was a reason you couldn't get a Hemi with air. and 6packs

You can make anything work, but there was a reason you couldn't get a Hemi with air. and 6packs A/C wasn't available because the A/C compressor hits the air cleaner. trim the air cleaner base and you can have A/C on your hemi or 440+6 car.

It wasn't available due to expected RPM use. Didn't want ricky the racer blowing up his AC compressor trying to win and not be sweaty. The factory was more than smart enough to figure out how to trim the air cleaner housing.
They say there are no such thing as a stupid question. They say there is always the exception that proves the rule. Don't be the exception.

It can totally be done & I like the "Sanden compressor under the alternator" idea myself. MANY years ago I bought a six pack air cleaner that had been trimmed to clear a factory A/C compressor, so this type of thing has been done for a long time...you wouldn't be the first by any stretch.
I'm no expert on this, but I would suggest you put a lot of consideration into your engine cooling system & keep the motor relatively mild.

It wasn't available due to expected RPM use.
I've often heard that but I believe the 383 has equal/more RPM potential.

If you want to hack up a 1500.00 base plate set then you can make the old a/c compressor work with the shaker and a single carb. This is a 340 here. Not with multiple carbs though.

Fuel pump to run the a.c. under the alt.? Pics showing how you had it mounted?

Yes the aftermarket kit uses the fuel pump boss for the front mount, which was ok in these applications as we had decided to run an electric pump from the start of the project Mike
