While back I had this info saved and now I can't find it...old age I guess. Now I'm ready to buy the parts so I need to confirm again if I got this right.

The 1966-69 426 Hemi used a 172 tooth flywheel with a 11" 2892259 bell housing and a direct drive starter.

That setup can be replaced with a 11" 2892262 or 2892626 bell housing, 143 tooth flywheel and a high torque starter can be used.

Do I have this correct? work

Thx
Wolf.

I would recommend that you use the 10.5" bell/flywheel like the 70-1 cars used. Especially with stock exhaust manifolds.

Thanks for reply. I didn't know 10.5" would be a better choice. I have a couple of bell housings for 11" which is why I was hoping to save money not having to buy a new housing. And yes I am using the stock exhaust manifolds.

Is there a casting number for the 10.5" bell housing?

The 10.5" flywheel....do you know what the teeth count is?

With the 10.5" will I be able to bolt in a high torque starter and function with no issues?

Thx,
Wolf

Click on the link in Dan's signature line above, it will show the various casting numbers. The 10 1/2" flywheel is 130 tooth and changing to it will allow the use of all gear reduction starters.

You might have to change the Z-bar.

John is correct on the info given. No need to change the z-bar or any clutch linkage. We can do some trading on bells if you want. Best to contact me through the website. Not on here often.
