Do you mean Travelers as in the company, or travelers insurance as in insurance to refund your travel costs in case you have to cancel your trip?

I have travelers insurance, the company for both home and auto.
Been using them for I think close to 10 years now. 5 years at my old house, 5 at my new.
Had them cover 1 accident wife's fault. Totaled our car and the other driver sued.
They took care of it all and gave me follow up calls on what was going on.

Our rates keep going up year after year, and once a year I check around and still can't find anyone cheaper.

I have an insurance broker that looks and I call usaa and a few others on my own.
for same coverage, generally everyone is a few hundred more on both car and house.

I have seen where I could split my coverage between 2 companies and save a few bucks, but the loss of the multi policy discount would eat the savings.

I went with them when a coworker was telling me about how his wife hit his car in the driveway and they took care of all of it and had no hassles.

The only issue I have had with them is they didn't tell me or maybe I didn't understand, that having them come out to check my roof after hail was considered a claim even though they didn't pay anything out.
So that dinks my insurance and costs me if I decide to try and switch.

Which may or may not be why rates are higher when I look around.

Their reasoning for increasing rates of course is all the stuff they have had to pay out and everyone's insurance goes up.

As a contractor, I have found them decent to deal with on storm damage claims. None of them are perfect.

Most insurance companies now raise your rates if they come to look for a hail call, damaged or not. Nationwide and Progressive do for sure, and 10 visible hits per square or its not damaged enough. Hire a roofer on your own to look.

Travelers is known to not renew auto and umbrella policies once your kids become driving age.

Travelers doesn't give one damn about their auto business. It's a necessary evil for them. They lose a fortune on auto, in large part because they are terrible at underwriting auto risks.

Boy you hit a nerve. Business insurance. Cancelled them last year after 26 years. Every year they wanted me to show my w2s to see how much I make, an audit they call it, basically looking for hidden employees and said a red flag jumped up on renewal because I had an employee back in 89. Normally around $1900 then after the "audit" it's around $1600. I got tired of the hassles each year and dropped it, then I got afraid I would mess up someone's house so I inquired with Progressive, just inked the deal Monday for $650 a year same coverage and no audits. They also have my commercial account for the two vehicles, Allstate wanted $500 a month, progressive $93 a month. Needless to say I'm over there now.

OK, Traveler's Insurance Company. (not insurance for folks who travel)

Got a good quote for car insurance, but how is their claim service, etc?

I see I got some replies. I'll probably stay where I'm at.

Thanks

I would say their claims service is pretty good.
I have only filed 6 claims I think in over 20 years, 4 with them, 2 with money paid out.

the 2 I mentioned I didn't realize were claims that they inspected my roof after hail storms.
They were very responsive.

1 for hail on a car
1 for a wrecked car our fault.

Both of those they took care of me very well.
The hail was the worst. I kept having to take it back to the shop that did the work because I kept finding things they screwed up.
Then a month later I got water in the car and they didn't want to fix it. I called up insurance and they took care of it on the original claim.
I think I went back like 5 times to that place and will never use them again.
they were not a recommended place, it was just a new place that opened near me that people seemed to like. and it was a chain. but they farmed out the work and they didn't do any QC when they got it back.

I have Travelers and I sell Travelers (I am an Independent Insurance Agent that sells Travelers, among others)

Excellent claim service, high quality insurance, and no issues when my boys became driving age (on my auto or my umbrella insurance).

Good luck!

I have "key off" insurance on my race car. The agency I deal with wrote the policy through Travelers. Fortunately no claims so I don't know much about them.
