What's the easiest way to drain all the fluid out of a power steering system for an 06 Dakota?

Can I simply pull the return line from the pump and run the engine?

Thanks.

I would suck out what is in the reservoir with a turkey baster of sort, then pull the return line and turn the wheel back and forth. You'll push out a pretty substantial amount.

Unless you're replacing the pump itself, i wouldn't pull the return line and run the engine. Perhaps spin it with a drill? [no belt].

Thats a good idea. Yeah, running the pump dry was what I didn't really wanna do. Thanks
