My original Sure-grip 9 1/4 rear end blew up a while back, so I swapped the rear end from another 03 truck I had. Both trucks are two-wheel drive. Of course this one had a horrible pinion whine at 45-55 mph. I’ve run it for over a year, but it developed a vibration and the howl went away. I bought another rear from a 4wd ‘03, and the plug for the ABS tone ring is different. Luckily, the wires were cut, so I wired it to existing two wires. Colors were different, so I did the guess. Now my dash ‘Brake’ and ABS lights are on. Switched wires around to no help. Any ideas?

Buy another one or
Put a piece of electrical tape over the offending light.
They say there are no such thing as a stupid question. They say there is always the exception that proves the rule. Don't be the exception.

Disconnect the battery and let it clear the codes. Does the rear axle assembly have abs sensors on it?

I don't know the answer to this, but are all the tone rings the same? Is it worth taking off the cover and counting the teeth? I don’t know that either, but they did change the speed sensor style in 05/06. That makes me wonder. I had the cover off initially, to check condition, and I put $60 worth of Royal Purple gear oil in it. Cover stays on for now.

I believe you need to touch battery cables ends together for approx 15 seconds with headlights on to deplete any memory in computer. I've had to do this with my 07 minivan & also my 2011 ram 1500 to completely clear code.

When you connected the rear axle speed sensor wires back together how did you do it?
The correct way per Dodge is to solder them and used heat shrink tubing.
With the low voltage that the sensors use crimp connectors could be an issue.
Kayse can't keep up at all now. lol

Ok. I hadn't either. What's it hurt to try it? Worked for me. Makes no difference to me. This is why I generally don't reply.
