I am swapping a tunnel ram onto my stroker small block and will be changing to a fiberglass hood. I am soon to be faced with how to store my stock hood. Has anyone done anything creative and secure to hang one from the ceiling? I have a 2 car garage in which I use pretty much all the wall space. Thanks for any ideas.

I have my old Bonneville's hood hanging in the garage. I bolted some chain from Home Depot to the hood hinge area with bolts/washers and have it hanging vertically on one of the walls from eyelets. To hang it upside down I'd probably just attach another piece of chain to the latch area.

I built something like this but skipped the grated shelf bottom and used some aluminum flat stock for cross bars on the ends.

Mine was about 10-12 inches from the ceiling.

If you end up putting it on the floor or ground, be sure to let it rest on its side and not on the front or rear edge.

My Dad came over yesterday and helped me get this done. Out of the way with no worries about it getting damaged. It took my wife a few hours before she questioned me why it was hanging over her parking spot and not mine.

Why? Will they warp?

Why? [/quote]

It can fold the corners in on the backsides as most stand them that way. All weight is on 2 1/4 inch areas. If you can't lay on it's side it's better to put the latch side down if the hood has a straight edge....

Most people just put lean them up against the back side of the garage in the mud on the points. eyes I have several ruined hoods in stock from that location... mad

I've got two leaning against the wall inside my garage, they are nearly straight up and resting on wood to keep them off the concrete. Haven't noticed any damage yet. Guess I'd better check them out.

I have 2 hanging on hooks on the wall and a third laying on it's side on a board leaning against a wall.
