440 engine,, EB carb... Car goes 35 mph at idle,, I did everything I know to do to slow it down... Even tighten return springs,, And it's not the throttle cable set back too far,, I can pull the throttle back by hand and it will go to 750 rpm...Not the choke,, not the idle screw, not the choke,, not the cold idle cam,,, but when I shove the accelerator down, same problem,, And it seems as if the 4 barrel never kicks in.. A friend of mine has a 65 chevy, 350,,, has the same problem.. any ideas? Thanks...

Check the vacuum port as suggested above. If you have the mixtures/jetting off it is possible to adjust the throttle blades high enough to uncover too much of the transition slot in the primary venturis. That will lead to idle issues.

I can pull the throttle back by hand and it will go to 750 rpm. but when I shove the accelerator down, same problem,, And it seems as if the 4 barrel never kicks in. (1) throttle blades sticking (2) may need to lighten the counterweights (Then you can add weight back on to fine tune as needed)

Most likely the fast idle cam is sticking. This will lock out the secondary's as well. I have seen loose throttle blade screws cause this condition also. Look here, Page 8. If you have no choke, this linkage must be wired open. https://www.google.com/search?q=edelbroc...sourceid=chromeDoug

Thanks for filling us in. Agreed. And now I know I should check my "s" linkage on the Carter I rebuilt, to make sure it is properly installed.
I have mechanical Aptitude. I can screw up anything.
