I was reading in the MMC Detroit Fastener Guide that left-handed standard lug nuts that came on steel rims with a wheel cover (like 450's) had a copper plating. Does anyone have any reference picture of an original LH lug nut I can use as a reference to re-create the plating?

Detailed question, I know. But I figured someone here has an original set of LH nuts with the plating. Mine are reproduction and plated clear zinc.

Thanks everyone.

Rob-I think it should have read wheel studs, not the nuts. The left side studs were originally copper colored/plated.I know the front disc for sure and I can't remember on the rear axle if they were or not.

Thanks Jim. My LH studs are copper plated, both in the rear axle and the front rotor. But I also believe there was a plating applied to the nuts to help distinguish LH from RH.

Not sure if this is original OEM, but it is Mopar Left Hand Stud and nut and both are copper plated.

Thanks dragon slayer. That is exactly what I was wanting to confirm.

Does the copper plating on the nut look the same as the stud? It looks like the nut is a little darker or dull. Might just be from age, however. Hard to see with the lighting in your pics.

It does look darker, but also has black spots on it so I am not sure if that is natural. The stud is new and came out of a parts draw. The nut is unused but was in an open container of lug nuts if I remember correctly. So I would ""Guess" the plating should be same.

Here are some close-ups also of the marks. I am no expert on this" G

FYI I just acquired 2 NOS front 3549845 brake drums/hubs booth have left hand studs with L stamp but on only one there copper colored, the date codes on the drums are {copper stud 151 3} {black stud 298 3}.
