Burst pipe in my shop, first time ever in over 45 years. Guy next door down had one to.
Supposed to get even colder at the end of week. River froze over, can't remember last time that happened. Might be jumping border to Mexico soon, do they check going the other way?

I'm fairly sure they are all on this side.

Lately there has been a southerly flow pulling the temps up into the 70's. At the end of the year we were looking at lows in the 60's at higher elevations.
When the air and water current changes as a result of global warming continue to set in it will get really interesting.

Why don't we look at the definition of air conditioning:

Air conditioning (often referred to as AC, A/C, or air con) is the process of removing heat from the interior of an occupied space, to improve the comfort of occupants.

Really?

Bikinis, daisy dukes, miniskirts, sundresses, tank tops...none of those things go in the plus column?

I lived up north long enough to remember all the girls looking looking like the Stay Puft marshmallow man from late October until mid-April.

I remember running a chainsaw in 100 degree heat back in July. Sweat pouring off of me, about to pass out, and thinking as I sat down to rest with a half gallon of iced tea..."it could be worse...it could be snowing."

The only thing I miss about northern winters is the euphoria you experience on the first warm day of the year.

Supposed to be in the mid-20's here tonite. Not common at all around these parts. runaway

BUT, a couple of days of it isn't bad compared to the MONTHS of it some areas endure.

Low 20's in the morning and low to mid 30's for the high, which last about 1 hour before going back down.

The lowest temp I have seen so far was 11 degrees. Thank god for plug-in engine heaters.

We have had some snow so far, but nothing like last year. It's off the main roads, but the neighborhoods and shaded areas still have some icy spots.

We get inversions where the car smog gets trapped in the valley and the sun is hidden for days. It takes a big storm or strong winds to push it out.

Had to get the torch out today to thaw the latch rod on my gate to take the thrash out. I hit it last week with an 8 pound piece of stone for about 5 minutes and could not get it to budge. Cans were only about half full last week. After the 5 minutes, I was tired of freezing and said "f this, I've still got room in the cans" and went back in the house.

Actually, there is no such thing as cold, just the absence of heat.
I can build a basic fire on a "cold" nite, but I can't "make" cold on a hot nite. No, ACs don't make cold, they remove heat.

True. No worries about hurricanes blowing in here and swamping everything with MONTHS or YEARS of clean-up though.

Heh...when we moved to Charlotte in 1985, we asked our neighbors if we need to pay someone to plow our driveways in the winter (we had no idea how much it snowed). The guy looked like we had just teleported there from the Enterprise and said "Plow??? if more than one flake hits the ground, the entire city shuts down and grocery stores get emptied! Why plow if you don't leave your house?"

I knew I had found home at that point!

we have an outdoor wood boiler. Been eating a lot of firewood but keeping up with demand in the sub zero we have gotten. Added a heating unit to the attached garage this Fall. Been nice to step into a warm car for a change.

I went out to run the splitter, but seems it didn't like the temperature.

Sunday is suppose to be more temperate. Time to play catch-up on outdoor duties.

What fish? They are still in the lake. Oh ya, I'm allergic to water. That's why I have a boat, and don't swim either.

Nice 16 degree day and I had to change 3 brake lines on the 05 Dakota, rusted through under the master cylinder. I got 60s-70s cars that still have good lines on them. Then later the 06 Rams windshield washer froze up, a b!tch to get off, everything in the way, thawed out the ice in it, now that works. What else?! I think I'll have to drive through a lake to get the salt-chemicals off my truck, was red now it's brown-white.

Supposed to get even colder at the end of week. River froze over, can't remember last time that happened. Might be jumping border to Mexico soon, do they check going the other way?

Take vacation to San Francisco and you can enjoy nice 65 degree weather!! If do come out bring a few long sleeve t-shirts as it does get into the high 50's at night. beer

Did see the doggie (looked like border collie), dragging a plastic sled up a hill, hopping on it and sliding down, then repeating over and over. Not another soul around, was kindof cool.

AKA an Alberta Clipper. Yep - this has been quite a cold snap - we need a break. Sunday the "warmup" begins, & all next week supposed to be 30's/40's.

Ha! My old '96 Ram had a PS line rust through when it was about 8 years old come to think of it, AND a PS line rust through a few years ago on a 2001 300M. Yeah, I've NEVER had something like that happen EVER! They don't make hydraulic lines like they used to!

A new reel? Heck I'm still using the rod and reel dad bought back in Mich in 1954, still have the aluminum tube it came in. Might get the fly rod and reel out this year too, might need new line and leader. I'll have to work on those flys too, some a little ratty. Got a kayak two summers ago, haven't used that yet either.
