I'm looking at re-painting my daily driver - am trying to squeeze another 4-5 years out of it.

Colour is metallic silver and I'm planning to keep it that way.

What's a good brand/system of paint to use that will apply fairly well, and hold up well in all 4 seasons? (and no $1000/gallon clearcoat!)

I used to like working with R-M Miracryl back in the day - a paint that behaves the same or better would be fine.

painted my dads work truck with this stuff.omni, au,mc 161.seems to be good been on 2 years still looks good and you will have around $150 to $200 in everything you need for a gallon of clear.i have been painting for about 20 years on my own stuff and that dupli color or what ever that sh!t is,is the worst stuff i have ever used.sprays bad lots of orange peel and you use more of that stuff than any other stuff i have used.

I did my motor cycle with Omni this past summer, I was happy enough with it, both in apperance and cost. Was out just under $100 for it.

Another vote for Omni/Shopline. My distributor carries the Shopline brand, says its the same as Omni. The base coat covered well in two coats and no complaints about the clear. In the Shopline brand, you can also buy the clear in quarts, which you can't get in the Omni line.

omni is great- I used 4 coats of base and 4 coats of clear-just keep in mind that bodywork and prep are 90% of end results-when you are ready for paint,do another 40 hrs. of priming and sanding and wiping down-I hope you have a dust free environment before spraying and keep floor wet

I've used omni with good results, only complaint the paint is thin and needs more coats than a good paint. I have switch to dupont nason, because the ppg supplier locally closed... but I find the coverage is better and I use the nason clear which is the old regular line of dupont clear. I like the nason clear better also, it seems to lay smoother.

Another vote for Omni. Did the race car and a few years ago and had a total for paint and all other materials at less than 300 bucks. But like I said that was a few years ago.
