And how do you like the sound?

I think there are only a handful of same side inlet/outlet mufflers. A flowmaster 88 series maybe, dynomax super turbo, and magnaflow.

I want to put a T/A look alike system on my car once I replace the springs and get enough ground clearance for mufflers. I currently have pipes out the side with Supertrapps on the end. They get me a lot of looks and questions, but they're restrictive and louder than I would like.

These would be mated up to headers, and I plan to find or make tips that don't have the neck down at the exit. Winder if I should also try to squeeze in short glasspack between header and muffler or maybe a straight section with an auger type muffler insert. I want mild and throaty but not loud and popping.

A friend restored a T/A and it had Spintech mufflers. Way too loud for me. They sound a little funny from the side anyway. I would keep them quiet as possible if it were mine.

I used TTI headers and X pipe, Accurate mufflers and stock tips with the baffle removed. It took some work to get the X pipe to match up to the mufflers. Its not much louder that stock and still somewhat looks the part

The Dyno max mufflers would be a good choice for the sound your looking for.
Popping in the exhaust is more likely a fuel issue. Normally extra fuel gets into the system on throttle closing and creates the popping sound on deceleration.
You might get a glass pack before the mufflers, not afterward since room is very limited. I like the Magna flow because there insides retain the pipe diameter. They don’t neck down.
Also, an “X” pipe mellows the growling exhaust sound. Stay with ether true duals or use an “H” pipe.
