Anybody run the comp 8043-16 solid rollers? Any grinding needed? I need to replace my Herbert lifters. Looking to hear from people that have ran these or something else that drops in/no grinding.

I haven't but from the looks of them I can't imagine any grinding would be needed. On the 828-16s any grinding needed is because the link bar is on the outside of the lifters, on the 8043s the link bar is moved to the other side to help with clearance, they also have better oiling than the 828s if I am not mistaken.

I noticed the moved link bar as well, but figured asking on here would quell any doubts. They look like nice lifters for street use.

BAM Products Lifters....MRL was selling them, now you must be a professional engine builder to buy from BAM directly (no retail).

Ah yes, forgot about the heads-I've got Edelbrocks. Would prefer to find some that don't require head removal.

If your deck has been cut you might have a issue..
at least on my W-2s there was.. I did some
grinding to get them to clear... I wanted to
set them up so I could change rollers while I
wason drag week.. I could get them out.. but
it was a PITA.. but I changed over to a FT
cam which are shorter.. no problem now.. I
am setting up my set of W-5s to put on just
for the weight difference..I clearanced them
for rollers also(I had them set up but ran
into some problems with those heads and put on
my W-2s)

Looks like it...They're damn nice lifters, I've been running them for about 3 years.

I ran the 8043's in my R3 engine. 400+ runs between rebuilds, no issues.

""Would prefer to find some that don't require head removal.""

What are the chances that going to a SR would require head removal just to swap out the lifters? Or does it just require mockup to find out for sure?

Thanks

Thanks for replies guys. It's been around 9 years since I was last in the motor so I probably don't remember every detail, but the Doug Herbert solid rollers went in with the heads on.
