Kinda related to the W2 stroker discussion, just wanted people's opinions/thoughts on this. How much if any real world power does the standard flange cost on a staock size (which is kinda small) W2 dual bolt pattern head on say a 550 horse/550 lb/ft combo?

Does anyone have a picture of the two flanges or gaskets overlaying eachother?

I remember running my first set of W2's back in the early 80's...when they didn't have dual pattern castings and wishing (price and availability wise) they did.

if you don't get what you are looking for I can probably help you out tomorrow. You want to see a regular 1 7\8 header gasket on a W2 head right

That would be great, buddy, Thanks!!

I know the W2's as cast are more oval shape and a bit shorter but wider overall than a standard LA "dog leg" or "trapezoid" (on most aluminum castings) port

I'll see tomorrow if I have a set of standard
LA gasket.. I know I have a set of new W-2
gaskets.. are your W-2s untouched or ported..
if ported.. how much.. I know I have to open
up the gaskets on my W-2s to the inner bolt
holes

They are ported but I Intentionally left the port opening the standard small "as cast" size knowing headers may be an issue for the 66 A body.

thanks!

overlay of the LA gasket over std W2 port or gasket

Thanks buddy!

Worst case If I used LA headers I think I could massage the flanges and gaskets slightly to minimize the effects of the port mismatch.

Also I've seen a lot of high HP W2 motors running on dynos with standard LA ports and although we don't have any definative "back to back", the numbers the motors are producing are still pretty impressive.

Hey 79410AspenRT, can you PM me your combo?

Mine is only about a 575hp big torque moderate RPM street peice, not a full race motor. I'm probably just over thinking it, it's got plenty for a little 66 A body even if I just used Log manifolds, lol

Hey buddy I got some bad knee issues going on and I can't even attempt to walk down to my shop. My Family Doctor gave me a shot of cortisone on Thursday to try to tame the pain down some till I see a specialist on Jan 8th. I was hoping to get some relief by now but so far nothing. Sorry about that but if I get some relief later I'll try my best.

Hey There, Mike

I wish I could say more but other than suspension (Tires/Wheels/F&R Sway bars/8.8 4 wheel discs and some frame mods there hasn't been a whole lot going on. I've had a lot of things going on so it's kinda been 'back burnered'.....My Cobra took almost 10 years so I'm about 3 1/2 into this one..... frown

I'm out of time right now, but I'll take a few full photos later on tonight.

Glad you had asked this question, I am contemplating running my Hooker headers for an extra season given that the TTI pipes purchase is a pretty darn steep wall to climb, and well, the budget has been nearly exhausted by the stroker build already...LOL!
