Does anyone have any original mirrors or nos mirrors that missed having the date code on the mirror glass? Just curious as I have a pair of nos mirrors and the driver side is missing the code. I would say it's highly possible but wanted to confirm. Thanks in advance.

you made me look..
out of the 6 71 mirrors i have
4 painted
2 chrome
only one has no date code.
a drivers side painted remote
it was from a Windsor car
the pass mirror from that car was missing.the door was changed at one time.
i can check some earlier mirrors for you if need be?
i probably have 4 or 5 of them
but that will take me time and a good search to dig up.

No need to search more. That's good info Frank as long as you feel it's original glass and not a replacement.... Thanks maybe others will chime in...

Are you looking for a specific year?

No Morty. I was just wondering if there was a possibility that an Nos mirror I have had the glass replaced. It doesn't look like it but doesn't have the code... So I was thinking that sometimes they got skipped...

i don't believe the glass was ever changed out
it looks weathered and aged like
most of the other date coded mirrors do that i have.
it has the cars orig color under a repaint
so i'm sure it came on the car originally.

I can only speak to 70/71 model year E-body mirrors, but I assume others were the same.

Early in the 70 model year, both the driver and passenger mirrors had a date code. Then at some point in the Aug/Sept timeframe, the date was removed from the drivers mirror. The passenger mirrors still retained the date.

On original mirrors I've seen, most 70 mirrors have MONTH-DMI-YEAR format. In late 70 and throughout 71, the format changed to MONTH-JC-YEAR. Not sure what the DMI vs JC designated. Probably the manufacturer of the glass.

I have 2 sets of NOS 70 mirrors and they all follow the convention above.

Rob Thanks! That is exactly the specific information I was looking for as these are Nos 1970 E-body mirrors still in the boxes. Drivers side is the one with-out date code and passenger side looks dated like all I ever seen. Thanks again.

I had an NOS set of chrome ‘70 E-body racing mirrors and the same deal was found. Passenger side was date coded 9 69 and no code on the driver’s side.
