I don’t personally own one, but I have two personal friends with them that I tune. Three customers with hp units that are happy with them.
I personally would recommend the Dominator system over any other right now.

I have been selling, teaching, tuning and supporting the Holley HP and Dominator for quite a while now. One of the best systems on the market. If you need more info take my Holley EFI online training. You will be impressed with what the system can do. Never had an unhappy customer.

Are there any advantages to running EFI on an NA race motor over a carb? I run a 2 circuit 1050 Dominator on my Gen 3 Hemi and been tuning on it all summer. I have it running really good, but, EFI intrigues me and have been thinking about making a switch to EFI for quite awhile. Ive been looking at the Holley Dominator system. Also, I want to get a data logger and instead of buying a seperate data logger, switch to the Dominator system and basically get the data logging capability for free.

For NA the advantage would primarily be the self tuning and the data logging. EFI also makes it a lot easier to run different fuels such as Q16 or E85 since all you have to do is change the fuel table rather than buying a new carb.

If you step up to the more serious EFI systems such as Holley HP or Dominator then you can get rid of the expensive MSD stuff. The Holley has two step, start retard, high speed retard, etc. all built in. You can also get rid of the expensive MSD box and run the ignition from the EFI with 8 coils. If you go with 8 coils then you can tune the timing for each cylinder but that starts to get a little complicated.

You probably won't make any more power than with a carb but the car might be more consistent. For a street/strip car it will be easier to drive on the street.

I have race customers that use the Dominator for all their data logging. One has a dragster with limited area, so he also bought the user configurable digital dash. He got rid of all his gauges and because the dash has virtual switches he only has three physical switches in the car: On/Off, transbrake and line lock.

In the case of the G3 and maybe other applications, is there a desirable/needed number of reluctor teeth for the Holley systems?

No. The Holley system will work with almost any combo of cam and crank signals.

My application is a SBM. I was asking if someone had one working properly. Because I had question's about wiring harness part numbers, Can it be configured to use other coils than the smart coils? I was thinking of using two Neon coils mount one on each inner fender , instead of 8 coils. But I could also mount the 8 coils on the inner fenders as well.

Also I like the idea of the selector sw. So you switch between tunes without going back into the system. Is anyone using that option?

Many Dominator users switch between tunes. But that's a Dominator only feature.

90% of users today use smart coils. They are just easier to manage and their power level is phenomenal. But Holley sells a coil driver for using non-smart coils.

I'd suggest the Holley 550-604 universal kit since that includes all the harnesses and sensors. This will run as-is using a distributor. If you want CNP (coil-near-plug) then your would run 4 coils in waste spark after adding a crank trigger, or better yet use a dual-sync distributor (with a cap) and run fully sequential using 8 smart coils. Switching tunes would require a laptop.

I have a CPS and a crank trigger I want to run it sequential. I see they sell a selector switch so that you can switch between 4 tunes with out a laptop . If I read it correct. I plan on using a pump gas tune, E85 tune, race gas tune, Maybe a methanol tune. Also looks like the NTK sensors would be the best for this application?

You're good on all points. If you want to buy, you should get the order into me quickly before the Holley Days special is gone and new prices go into effect.

I run the HP unit and 4 GM coils on each valve
cover they are cheap and easy to get.. I use the
laptop to change the tune.. very easy and quick..
I leave the laptop hooked up to the car using a
power inverter so I can drive with it.. I thought
I had a pic of the coils but cant find it

The holley Dominator looks like a very nice unit, the price scared me off so I went with megasquirt. While there is more work up front it is an extremely capable system and I haven't found the holley does anything it can't do. Although if I had the dominator money that would have been the way I went.

That being said I love having EFI. There is lots of knobs to turn and I am still learning what some of them do but it is more fun to tune the car now and so easy to make changes. I can have a data log downloaded, viewed, and changes made about the same time as when the fans shut off from cooling down.
