Does anyone have one of these, and do you like it? I have a standard timing light, but always wanted an advance light. I was asked to pick out a Christmas gift in the $75 range, and Amazon has these for $70.

It's pretty good. I can't tell you how much internal slew (delay) there may be but I think its reasonably fast.

I like being able to read the rpm and advance. Dial back has been handy on the dampers without a timing tape.

Light itself is reasonably bright. Similar to both my craftsman and my MSD.

There are not many companies making timing lights, anymore. The only down side to dial back timing lights like that is that they don't like multi strike ignitions. They can throw multiple flashes making it all but impossible to set timing on multi strikes. The tach is a nice feature.

I have 4 or 5 timing lights in the shop now. We use them more for diagnosing problems than we do to time. Not many people use them anymore, so they pop up ever so often on Craigslist.

This summer, I bought a nice Craftsman inductive light still in the case for $20.

I have an Innova light and happy with it so I would recommend to get it. Video of me using it on my ZZR1200.

The electronics take time to process. The more decisions it makes internally, the longer it takes. Normally no one notices. But on an engine spinning 5 or 6000 rpm or faster, that time can equal a degree, or two, or three.

"For some perspective do the math:
6000RPM / 60 = 100 revolutions per second X 360 degrees = 36,000 degrees per second.
Each degree is 1/36,000th of a second or .00002778 sec."

I bought MSD's light because I was concerned about that problem. The Innova seems to be OK with my MSD 6T. I also have a Craftsman inductive and should compare. But current engine doesn't have a timing tape on it, so thats a ways off.

But when I was looking for the speedtalk posts on slew, there was also this one about problems with an MSD.

Thank you. I got (2) dial backs, both sears craftsman, one an "advance timing light" & another a "professional timing anaylzer" & not sure what the difference is between the two & no multispark ignitions.
