Challenger....multiple headlights, metal grille, better door panels and body lines......70 only...in 71 I would take either and be pretty happy.

Are you sure?, pilot cars often received options/treatments that productions models never saw

I would guess we would have to see a photo of the car back in 1970 but most would agree that the 70 rear panel blackout was only original on T/As. And they didn't start production until March of 1970, 8 months later. I will certainly agree that it looks better! But that doesn't make it original....

the Challenger R/T is an A63 car, there are plenty of early R/T SE & R/T w/A63 cars that have an original black finish panel - the additional part number was probably axed early by the "bean counters" - it shouldn't have hood pins blush

"pilot" cars were built months before production started in August '69

I recall those rear panels being rough finish silver, astrotone, like the wheel center caps. this car looks black, like my T/As. But it is hard to say from the photos if the panel is there or if it is painted.

the original panel is there & the tips were a little better aligned before it went thru Mecum Kissimmee 1/2016 shruggy a few too many miles on a transporter?

The Bay Area Owner bought the car from Big Willie who supposedly won it in a race. The car pimp that bought it then put it on the market. I offered 2X what he paid for it but he wanted more. So off to Steve Fox it went.

For convertibles in 1970, I prefer the Challenger...usually.

But I really don't care for longitudal stripes on the 1970 CHallengers and those gawd awful 14x6 skinny-[censored] Magnum 500 wheels makes Challengers look like a fat body builder w/toothpick legs.

So for these particular 'verts, I'll have to pick the 'Cuda.


Now in 1971, has to be the 'Cuda. Never a fan of 1971 challengers w/that grille and taillight treatment.

I guess if I was uber rich, I'd buy them both and put some decent 15" wheels/tires on the Challenger.

I saw the car at MCACN in November. Its the stamped panel not paint.
Though IIRC, it was painted dark argent. Looks black in my picture though too.

I usually prefer Challengers over Cudas, but I actually like that the Cuda is a little more understated (no stripe, plain colour) than the Challenger, so I'll pick the Plymouth.

That said, I'd happily take either one as they are both beautiful cars.

If you were giving me one of them, I'd take the Challenger. Always liked the Challenger over the 'Cuda.

That said, I am not a fan of convertibles at all. Just never liked the looks with the tops up.
