Two awesome e-bodies. I like the 'Cuda without the console. But I'm a Challenger guy so I would take that one.

Gimmee the 'Cuda. I vowed to never own another red car (I've had way too many over the years). And, it looks really good in basic white.

The Cuda. Rarer,highly optioned, even lower VIN (normally I don't care about that much but 000004? Wow.

I do think the Challenger makes for a better looking vert than the Cuda though. Not in hardtop form, just the verts.

Challenger. Beautiful car. The colors of the Cuda are the worst ever.
I generally like a Cuda much better, but not in this pair.

I'd have to opt for the Challenger, despite the fact I'm not a big fan of red (although one of my Challengers is red!).
I never understand the logic of selling a pair of cars together at an auction. Seems like the pair often sells close to the value of just one of the cars. Maybe I should head to Kissimmee, buy this pair, sell the cuda, and end up getting the Challenger for close to nothing? hammer

Challenger body style looks tougher + it has a white interior. E-bodies look great with white interiors so it gets my vote.

Cuda, love the looks of it, plus Plymouth > Dodge :-)

I agree with the above, it seems like cars sold as a pair never do that great, almost like a Buy one, Get one free sale.

I pick the Challenger over the Cuda in 1970,but in 1971 the Cuda gets my pick. My friend has a 70 V code Convertible Challenger R/T convertible in the same color combo,but his is an automatic car. It is stunning!

If I had to just pick one, it would be the Challenger . As far as what they will hammer for ?
I could see a million for the pair IF the right buyers are in the room ,
and egos and alcohol are involved. A million would certainly be within the realm of possibility .Someone just paid 17.8 million for Paul Newman's Rolex watch , and these cars are Waaaayyy cooler than a dang watch. The cars by themselves on any given day 250k-300k each I would think. As a pair and being such early built with promo history etc..in an auction environment ,I guess 750k , possibly more . These two are blue chips that will increase in value , plus it would give the new owner tremendous bragging rights . All that being said, I have not seen or inspected these cars in person .

I know the guy that ended up getting the Challenger in it's unrestored condition from the long time owner in the SF Bay Area. If I remember correctly the guy picked it up some time in the early 70's after it was used as a pace car at maybe the Pomona or Ontario raceway. Super cool and it had very nice original sheet metal with most all original parts. Original motor and he ended up getting the original trans from Ken Funk. Unfortunately he sold it for a pretty big number at the time to Steve Fox. At the time I thought he was crazy for selling it.

Although the Challenger is my favorite it also has the most obvious day-2 addition. The blackout of the rear tail panel, something for T/As only, made 8 months later.

I would guess we would have to see a photo of the car back in 1970 but most would agree that the 70 rear panel blackout was only original on T/As. And they didn't start production until March of 1970, 8 months later. I will certainly agree that it looks better! But that doesn't make it original....

The Bay Area Owner bought the car from Big Willie who supposedly won it in a race. The car pimp that bought it then put it on the market. I offered 2X what he paid for it but he wanted more. So off to Steve Fox it went.

For convertibles in 1970, I prefer the Challenger...usually.

But I really don't care for longitudal stripes on the 1970 CHallengers and those gawd awful 14x6 skinny-[censored] Magnum 500 wheels makes Challengers look like a fat body builder w/toothpick legs.

So for these particular 'verts, I'll have to pick the 'Cuda.


Now in 1971, has to be the 'Cuda. Never a fan of 1971 challengers w/that grille and taillight treatment.

I guess if I was uber rich, I'd buy them both and put some decent 15" wheels/tires on the Challenger.

I saw the car at MCACN in November. Its the stamped panel not paint.
Though IIRC, it was painted dark argent. Looks black in my picture though too.

I usually prefer Challengers over Cudas, but I actually like that the Cuda is a little more understated (no stripe, plain colour) than the Challenger, so I'll pick the Plymouth.

That said, I'd happily take either one as they are both beautiful cars.

If you were giving me one of them, I'd take the Challenger. Always liked the Challenger over the 'Cuda.

That said, I am not a fan of convertibles at all. Just never liked the looks with the tops up.
