I just can't stomach it. However I do believe it has had a positive impact on the sport.

For me, Street Outlaws is a lot like Graveyard Cars. There are parts of both that I just cannot stand. More specifically there are characters on both that I cannot stand.
But both shows do get closer to Mopars and street racing realities than anything else I have ever seen. And for that reason, I watch regularly. Sometimes while holding my nose. But I watch.

A Lot of BS in it which puts me off some but its for TV, its cool though as its what racing is all about and I like the fact that their racing for status and money. I actually turned NHRA off the other night, never thought I would, its as bad as watching our racing over here, apart from PM and CE which amounts to around 20 cars in total.

It would be a much better show if they had to drive their cars to the street race.

Just turned it on. As soon as I saw that JJ a-hole, I changed the channel. 2 hour show so it will be a lot about JJ as he will have his own show soon.

i enjoy watching the show and have met a few of the guys. they are an interesting group for sure. but for crying out loud, can they just once in a while show an entire race at real time? would give people a better perspective as to how fast their cars really are. The fireball Camaro has been 3.84 in the eighth. Farmtruck has been mid 8’s. Boosted GT has been mid-high 7’s. Most of those cars are very low 6 second cars.

I watched some of it last night, something I rarely do but the GF is back to working the night shift. Anyway I'm not a fan of turning what is probably a 5 to 6 second race into 12 to 13 seconds. I guess they have to make it look longer. edit: Oh yeah, that guy JJ is is some kind of character.

I couldn't believe I saw that car parked along the road they where racing on before the wreck, absolutely stupid I hope this isn't the last nail in the coffin for this show They left the wrecked car sit there. That's what stumped me. Why didn't they drag that thing outta there?

I hope these guys start doing podcasts more often now that the show is back on. It is usually an entertaining hour or 2 with some insights into the show. What's the name of the podcast?

I stopped watching NHRA on TV about five years ago.
I stopped watching Street Outlaws two years ago. Nothing bad to say about the show, I just missed an episode, and decided not to watch it until I could get caught up...haven't watched it since!!

I just can't stomach it. However I do believe it has had a positive impact on the sport. Thunder Valley in Noble should give them all lifetime pass for all the money they have made off the no prep races, $20 per head a day plus $20 parking per day for 17,000 spectators on a weekend to see the Street Outlaws race.

I can't wait for JJ's show. He's a riot. A friend went to the no prep in Kentucky last weekend, said the only one of them that was there that was a complete tool was Krye Kelly. I hoe they don't renew N.O.. He said Chuck and Reaper were a riot. That said, man I miss Monte's insight into the show. Kye looks like a tool...and JJ is the best thing for that show. He seems like a fun guy to hang with in person also.

It’s all part of the game to get under your skin, or psych you out, so you will give him the race he wants. Has nothing to do with who has the faster car...it’s all about taking someone else’s money. It’s not always how people act in real life.

JJ has his own show already, well at least its in production. First couple shows were taped in Las Vegas, my son was out there with a couple car we work on. They have some fast stuff for sure. Crappy road they chose and not sure the California part will ever air due to fights and issues...

About a month ago I was at the filming of one JJ's episodes here in Memphis.....I got to talk to him for while and in real life he's not near the ass he is on TV. The TV JJ is somewhat an act. The race I was at traction was the issue....nearly everly race someone blew away the tires or wrecked. Just going A to B was the trick.

Heard some very disturbing news about the Outlaws and the Police here in OKC. May cause a big change in the show. Look for more Memphis action. Details?

For me, the "list" races have really gotten old.
BTW, can someone tell me what "O G" is?

Just watched the last 3 episodes and I think its getting really boring. I now find myself fast forwarding through Azn n Farmtrucks antics. And is it me or are there a ton of commercials now compared to previous years. Looking forward to Precious and JJ's Street Outlaws. OKC is boring now. There prob is more commercials to help pay the increasing salary of the show's stars...just like a 1/2 hr sitcom, if you record it and fast forward thru the commercials, can watch it in 15 mins..OKC is starting to turn into Orange County Choppers, more BS and commercials and less action.

I think Monte had said their segments routinely get high reviews, but I agree, not much value there. Getting to be like the WWE, 90% jibber jabber and 10% cars at WOT. I still like the 10%.

Last night it was so nice to not have to listen to "BIG head" chief (figuratively and LITERALLY!). Yes he did climb=jump over more racers than anybody would be allowed to!
Don You know you were right. It was actually pleasant to not see the Big Chief and his puppet side kick Shawn. I still think it's getting boring as heck.

I thought it was more like a filler episode without Shawn and Chief... as far as commercials go, a 30 min show is more like 20 and 60 more like 40. There are that many commercials in all shows.

The show don't pay them crap. Don't remember which racer said it on the bullet. But the bottom 5 on "the list" got 500 bucks per show. And top 5 got paid 800 per show.... They don't get free stuff from venders...maybe a discount? They do how ever make their money selling shirts and stuff at tracks while there. it's not uncommon to sell up to 4k shirts during one day. Granted the shirts are not free to them. They are however making enuff money to support what they love doing.....there making enuff money selling shirts that the show it's self is having hard time getting them to race

You think they’re all wearing those shirts with product names because they are comfy?

A discount I'm sure. Free. No Doc debuted a 950+ cubic inch engine, with 5 kits of nitrous. he owns his own repair shop. Those must be some great discounts! Monza installs garage doors for a living, and has a car the caliber of the camaro. he must be getting some great discounts too!

The show is a legitimate hit and they'll be compensated accordingly.

A discount I'm sure. Free. No Precision Turbo gave away the turbos off of the murder nova. If Shawn owned them, fo you think they could have done that?

Yes the were junk. Precision made sure of that when they (PTE) came up with the give away. Still cool to get, but my point is that PTE gave away THEIR turbos, that were on Shawn’s car.

Unfortunately it's just a new fad everywhere. Look at all the little league baseball kids wearing flat bill hats now.
I'm anxious to watch the Bristol episode tonite.

I don't get the show on my TV at home but yesterday was out of town and it was on at the hotel I was at. Watched number of shows . The getto hat wearing is one thing that irked me. Also for some reason when the farm truck guy did the starting light was the other, can't that guy take more than one step back before turning on the light?

Also for some reason when the farm truck guy did the starting light was the other, can't that guy take more than one step back before turning on the light? Just my opinion. Having been around street racing many years back with some guys the faster the cars are the closer the "light" or flag guy. This gives him a chance to get back in case the cars get crossed up quickly so it's much safer for the starter....

The flatbiller trend with the ears tucked in started with motocross people in California 10+ years ago. It certainly isn't new or ghetto.

This is great I could care less what they do or wear. It does not effect me one way or the other. FWIW, the show is mindless entertainment at best with most of the winners and losers pre determined by the director and production staff. We can thank Vin Diesel for the “YO” factor imbedded into the show. When the writers decided to insert a ghost in the farm truck guys shop was when I switched back to hockey. Happy New Year fellas

No ball caps even? When I think what you guys consider ghetto, it's hats on sideways, off center etc. A lot of non ghetto people don't bend their brims.
I grew up in the 90s listening to metal, rock, rap, country etc... didn't change how I dressed or acted. Music and how you dress doesn't make you a bad person, just what some people like to try and use as an excuse.

Even the small home town tracks are getting into having the Outlaw racers come. Packs the stands every time. With the Oklahoma boys going back to their roots with stock bodied cars and dumping the Pro Mod look , which I knew wouldn't last gets back to what people can relate to. There's a place for Pro Mod , just not on the so called street race show.

And apparently you do, because you keep kicking it back to him. Get back to talking about racing and QUIT yanking his chain. I for one enjoy the show. Reminds me of the 60's and the street racing that went on. It was a lot like that at some of the smaller tracks too. Resin burn outs and all of that stuff rolled in. It is just a show. nothing more.

I guess I look at it like, If I wanted to watch people incoherently yelling at someone or fighting I would turn on Jerry Springer. Does the people who scrip the show really think that is what we want to watch. I did the street race thing back in the 60's -70's and we never got into screaming and pushing people around. Just shut up and race!!!!!!! Next thing on the Street Outlaw show we'll have guy's with those hand held equalizers. Something I can see "Chuck " pull out. What a jerk he is.

I was wondering on how the racers where picked before the show started tonight, once I saw that Boosted GT was the "promoter" IE Discovery Channel financed, I knew who did the inviting to this race Am I wrong on this ? I liked it anyways Is there a lot of this type heads up racing east of the Rockies or not If so where do you find the rules for the cars to be legal to get in

I hope we don't start having glory hounds telling us the winners of the races before they hit tv. Monte was always real good at keeping the results under his hat. Get it, under his HAT. The mopar guys, even the big blower guys are pretty disappointing.

Maybe NHRA pro stock drivers should start wearing flat brims cause it doesn't look like Street Outlaws is having trouble packing stands at Bristol. Dang...that's gonna leave a mark....

And then there were 4 pages of talking about hats...Just DVR through the crap and watch the races. Funny when Chief came back after the win the stands were completely empty. Wonder what time it was? About 1am if I remember correctly from the podcast. Dennis

The mopar guys, even the big blower guys are pretty disappointing. This race was posted on youtube months ago. I had already watched the whole race before the show last night. Still good to see what happened in the background, like Chiefs car needing a rear swap and so on.

My nobody cares .02....
Had to >> through the "pre-game show".....
Watched the race....... I liked it better than the list races, which I just don't care about at all. I >> through a lot of those shows too.
The Memphis preview didn't look all that promising to me. Lots of BS and smack talk...... Not enough car stuff or racing..... But we'll see. I'm expecting a lot of >> is gonna happen with the new show as well.

Did anymore catch Justins comment about the brakes on Shawn's rear end? He was worried that they wouldn't hold enough for him to build boost as they were only single caliper (each side) and his were double. Correct me if I'm wrong but don't they go on the trans brake to build boost then use a bump box to bump in? He said on the podcast and maybe once or twice on the show that he doesn't use a bump box. He "goes in like a man" and stages the car. If I remember correctly.

One of the previous shows chief explained how murder nova used a bump box. I myself being a stick shift guy never heard of it and looked it up to know how it worked.

I was really disappointed with the Mopar showing "again" It sure would be nice to see something different than Fox body Mustangs and GM junk wining every race.

Hard to get excited about a mopar wrapped with another brands body. Stinky Pinky is hard to get excited about just because of the name. That Demon looked like a show car at a drag race.

If someone really wants to go fast at this stuff they ought to build a Charger or something with that long 114" + wheelbase. ProMod chassis, stock roof and quarters. I was surprised to find out that the Pontiac is the same as a 'Cuda in wheelbase. Yeah, the Demon looked really slow. Guys looked terrible on the tree. Maybe that's why they can't use the timing equipment and race with the real men. 1 second lights ain't gonna cut it! How about the tool in the Vega watching the Pontiac driving away from him and then staying in it to wreck the car! Should have switched seats with the guy beside him... Leaving on an instant green isn't that easy. All of pro drag racing should be on an instant green.

Chief sure did well. Shawn sucked and so did most of the others. Reacting to a light is reacting to a light. Yellow or green what's the difference? Because the .4 tenths tree gives you an extra .4 tenths to see the light.

I'm not saying they are going to have .00 lights. Instant green kinda takes a red light out of the equation don't you think? I saw some guys going deep which I think I would do every time in that situation. Why not? You're shortening the track 6" and you are reacting to green so no chance of going red... True, it does take the red light out of the equation...unless someone is really guessing. I'd rather see some slower lights and get rid of some of the red lights. IMO, I think you'd see some of the PS drivers cutting great lights would not be nearly as good as they are on a 4 tenths tree.

Think about that... PS drivers are leaving with the clutch. I know they would be better than these tools... Well, Big Chief kinda blew that theory in the mega race episode. Here’s the way I see it... Chief has realized and capitalized on what has been missing in drag racing since the 70s. PERSONALITY. Knowing the drivers makes watching the race MUCH more fun to watch. We discussed this at work. Most guys I work with like drag racing, but most won’t go to the track unless they know someone that’s racing. If I, or anyone else at work, go to the track to even make time runs, the track gets at least 5 extra gate entry’s. Think about this, then multiply viewership by actual track/gate participation. Now add in the fact that these cars are no joke. I see Chief as trying to recreate the Jungle Jim/ Jungle Pam days. People knew them and came out just to see them. Even if you hate them, you may come out just to see them get stomped... but you’ll still be there. They prove that at every venue they attend. Love them or hate them, the personalities help you relate to the races we are all watching.

The guy with the Chevelle was ok, kind of like dominator, the lovable shoot himself in the foot guy. Plus the only muscle car. While I wouldn't celebrate with a flat hat or saying 'what? what? what?' the emotion among them was fun to watch last night.

This is what reality tv has done and boy they do a great job of it. The only difference is the racers back in the 60’s and 70’s focused on RACING and that’s it. I can’t recall Dick Landy running around the pit area dressed in south of the boarder prison yard garb yelling “ don’t knobody 60 foot me”. Like most of these reality tv created personalities, a lot of these characters will be an afterthought in 3-5 years.. hopefully they are smarter than they appear on television and invest the money they are making now wisely.

I have to guess that if a camera was rolling in our hero's pits and garages we would have seen some cringe worthy moments...
There was plenty of staged antics in match racing and when done well still a hoot to watch.

I’m with you on this........big chief and some of the other guys are nothing but punks, they will never earn this adults respect when they choose to act, dress and talk like they do. They earn millions of people's attention each week. Maybe they'll be okay losing one person's respect. Most of the guys will admit they are punks, or as they say on the podcast, pieces of feces.

I think after the beatings he took from Hollywood Kelly, it was fun to watch him get caught up in the win.

Moparts does not play nice with Apple devices due to a problem with UBB threads. Moparts also said that only 1/4 of Moparts members post and view on phones and tablets I wonder how Facebook, Instagram and YouTube are able to post any picture or video from any device without any issues Time to blow the dust off of my 15 year olds gaming pc and pull out my 11 year old digital camera in order to post pics I’ve heard that the Samsung galaxy works nice with Moparts FWIW Exhausting!

The thing that I wonder about is the big opening for fire to come through. If the trans goes the tin floor wouldn't stop much anyway, but it might keep some fire out if something happens under the hood.

Most of these cases are pretty beefy and my ATI even has a steel safety liner inside the case very close to the internals. Saying that I personally would not run without a trans tunnel. I am probably teched better at my local tracks than these guys are and that Reaper Guy scares the crap out of me and I would rather not be in the other lane against him

If I remember correctly, it was Kye Kelley who yelled out "don't nobody out-60-foot me" a couple seasons ago, so it seemed to me Chief was making fun of that after getting that monkey off his back. Read up or ask someone who was there about the Gasser Wars of the '60s: those guys carried on even in Dragster, and it was sometimes very funny. It definitely packed the stands and brought attention to some of the racers. It's TV, so you're not gonna see the quiet & analytical guys, as the emotional stuff is what they're after. All things considered, to me the OKC guys are more likable, interesting & amusing than the NOLA guys, and so far the Memphis bunch just strikes me as particularly obnoxious. Jeez, we're up to 8 pages on this deal!

I always thought Big Chief looked like Gru.

Stupid... after what, 6 years? No one can make an engine outrun the worn out chief engine?! I call BS for the show. Take the rear out of one, stick in another (it fits?) set up the four link, and the wheely bars fit, adjust them, in what little time they have and he runs faster then he ever has. Then the competition takes out power! Get real, made for TV and yawl suck it up. Like Rocky IX

they said they made their cars the same on purpose, sounds like team racing to me, plain and simple (and smart). Pretty sure a @Shoeracing rear would fit any of the 4 funny cars.

think monte cleared that up quite nicely back in the day. sure was fun having his $.02 on some of these guys.... .... I had to laugh at Chiefs antics in the car when taking the stripe. Has anybody NOT "F-yeah'ed and F-you'ed" sometime in their racing? Good stuff. Of course we have. But the majority of the audience hasn't felt that. This is good for the sport. No one knows how it feels to win a race until they are in the car. It's about time they showed that feeling.
It may be ugly, but it sure is slow.
