Thats a really cool car! Its cool that it has survived so well. What did it sell for at the auction? And what does anybody think it will sell for this time?

I thought about the paint a lot and it would take a guy like me to live with the paint and I am not sure many others would. I even thought if I got it I might be able to power wash and wet sand the remnants of the custom paint off and save the original pain underneath as this car was definitely a LIGHT scuff and shoot. If this car would have had limited paint issues I would have owned it. I think

Pretty cool machine and a great story. I wonder what happened to the car after the winner took possession of the keys? Did they keep it a while or flip it? I wonder if winning a car had the same tax issues back then that it does today?

I like the old school paint jobs more than the current Pro Touring blacked out w/carbon fiber accessories look. Maybe someday the modified cars crowd will start doing more retro paint schemes like this one.

Didn't the actual selling price of the car at the auction earlier this year go somewhere in the mid $50's ?

Last time I saw it was in the 90's at the Mopar Nationals sitting on a ramp truck, still have a picture of it somewhere. Wish I had the coin... frown

That's the same black capped 3 speed motor in both my 68 Barracuda and Dart. Seem them in most all others.

69-up had the yellow zinc one piece cans.

I'll raise you a quarter: 69 used the Prestolite 3sp and the Chrysler built 2sp. Maybe an early car using leftovers could have one but I've never seen it.

Part numbers get kind of weird 66-68 and the parts lists I've seen aren't accurate. There seems to be 3 manufactures Leece Neville, General Industries and Prestolite. Leece Neville had a 2 and 3sp that look identical except one has 3 wires and the other has 4.Both with a long black stamped steel barrel. The switch plate is white nylon mostly 67-68 A bodies I've also seen them on B-bodies not sure if the were OEM though. The General Industries motors can also be 2 or 3sp same thing 3 or 4 wire. The barrels are shorter on these motors. They also have a metal switch plate with a half moon phenolic terminal holder. I've seen them mostly on 66-68 B-bodies and sometimes on 67-68 A Bodies. Prestolite motors show up on everything from 66 up.
