I'm assuming you are talking about a column shift linkage? I was thinking that it is mounted upright for possible a console shift set up, but I'm just guessing on that theory.

Yes. Column shift linkage. Had a white bushing on the left side. The longer side mounted to a plate attached to the frame.

It looks a lot like the upright pivot rod for a console slapstick from the early 70s. The bottom set in the bracket bolted to the back of the trans, the lower lever arm was connected to the trans shift linkage, and the upper lever attached to the shifter linkage. Missing in the center, between the 2 levers, was a rubber boot to seal against the floor. The top of the piece shown was held in place with a plastic bushed bracket that bolted to the console brackets. The lever arms are nearly in line with each other because the slapstick linkage had to change direction 180 degrees to move the shift lever in the correct direction.

The reason I don't believe it was a cross link is because the two lever arms are nearly in line with each other, most cross links had the levers facing opposite directions. Gene

Sure looks like the horizontal shaft that goes from frame bracket to trans bracket, but looks a little modified maybe with some boogering of welds there.

i agree with the frame to trans brackets, but the factory "welds" were not the best by any stretch of the imagination, no matter where they were, nor component used on, even out sourced parts. if it held together enough to get installed, that seemed to be good enough, no matter how many "boogers" were used.

I would say the short lever has been re-welded. The factory welds were never that good. The other welds are probably factory, and look pretty good compared to some I've seen. Gene

The three parts welded to the shaft were wll welded just on one side.
I pretty sure it came out of a dealer's inventory making me thinks that it is a factory part.
