Operation Superbird hood repair;
Looking for a 70 B-hood, more specifically a 70 Coronet.

Blue hood is the '70 Coronet hood I have now, the cleaned/yellow is the original Superbird hood

Question, any B-body underhood support structure would work? Or not? Mike G?

Yes, I agree.... I was looking to transfer the underside frame work on my hood out since it has corrosion. The top skin is pretty nice.... I was curious of the underside frame work of a '70 Coronet was similar, if not the same, as that of say, a '70 Belvedere or Charger....

But I did find today a real nice '70 Coronet hood for $250.... So, that is good...

I know folks have used a Superbee bulge hood and put the superbird front on it to use it on the superbirds. I think the 70 coronet hood is the one to use so it good you found one. Can you compare it to your bird hood underside shapes & contours?
I don't know the difference in the underside on 70 Dodge vs Plymouth hood.

I have a flat 1970 Plymouth hood. Do you want pictures of the underside?

there's a thread on dodge-charger where somebody shows the details of what gets modified top & bottom from a Coronet hood to create a Superbird hood

you need flat Coronet hood, upper panel Superbird hood extension & underside Superbird filler panel

nothing Charger or Belvedere will help sawzall

I got a 70 Coronet hood today....

The inner structure is what I was looking for comparisons... But, the '70 Coronet inner structure is what is used with it trimmed in the leading edge to facilitate the installation of the extension.... So, looks like it is a mute point thread now... So, we'll take the outer skin and both the upper and lower extension portions and replace the inner structure from the good Coronet hood I just got and mate it to the Superbird panels....
