Hello All,

1) Does anyone know if the Holley Dominator or HP systems can be used as plug-n-play for G3? If no, can it be made to work?

2) Mopar EFI kit that has the unlocked ECU, harness, accel pedal:

Other than running the "as loaded" Mopar tune on the ECM, is there an aftermarket software that can access/tune this ECM as a stand-alone system?

3) Application: Thinking out loud and for group conversation...

Purchase a new or used 6.4 Apache, install tall Ritter intake (use stock fuel injectors), lock out cam phaser, disable MDS, add headers, custom chassis dyno tune and go for it!

I have a decently light weight, tube chassis car project that I've been married to for 10 years now and I'm on the fence about my engine options. I recently sold off the big block engine parts I had and all I have left is a bare 400 block. So, I'm basically starting from zero as far as an engine goes. I really don't know if I want to invest heavily into the BB stuff and I'm thinking it makes sense to use a platform that has parts readily available off the shelf.

As mentioned, the car is a light tube chassis car setup for a RB and 727. Not too much involved to put in a G3 and change mid-plate to SB 727. My intent is for weekend fun and a reliable bracket car.

Many thanks to the folks who I've PM'ed and/or spoke with on the phone about this, over the last several months. I'm just throwing this out to the public for some chat...I would like to finish this project and maybe just need some moral support...

The Dominator will run the semi but will not control the transmission( unless something has changed since I bought mine).. you can get the required harnesses here.

https://www.holley.com/products/fuel_systems/fuel_injection/dominator_efi/harnesses/

make sure you choose the correct harness based on the year of your hemi.. they will not control the vvt,Mds or active intake..

Couldn't you build an early 5.7 stroker instead for about the same price of a new 6.4? I thought a new 6.4 crate was $7500. Then just add FI with Holley HP or even a MS3 gold box
I would think you get more bang for your dollar.and you don't have to worry about VVT.

Yes, I think that's probably possible. However, I like the idea of a crate or take out motor vs finding all the parts to build a motor and then dealing with a machine shop and their schedules.
An early non VVT block makes more sense and would be easier.

I'll be looking for an early 5.7 and go from there...

Thanks for your thoughts.

Have you thought about the new plug and play 6.4 with the factory unlock PCM?
Don't know how much tuning you can do with that, but the new Hellcats are doing very well.

Yes, I've considered the crate 6.4 and PCM kit. As a "drop in" solution to get my car project progressing again, this would do the job. I've read that the PCM can be tuned with HP tuners, but I can't confirm that. Even with the factory 6.4 tune, this would be a new engine that would make around 500 HP out of the box, especially with real headers on it.

I think this is a pretty decent setup for the 10K-ish cost for a brand new modern/running 500HP EFI engine.
