I want to convert my '73 Duster to a '74 to change the class I run in. I can then run a 360 as opposed to a 340. I was told the only difference on the outside of the car is the front grill. I would like to know what the difference is between the grills, and if there are any other differences.

I think in 1974, they have that plastic bumper filler behind the bumper, screwed to the bottom of the grille. I've parted them both out.

There is no difference in the grille.

Keep your same front end and just get a new (wider) rear bumper and put the rubber filler between it and the body (all 74's had this). You'll also have to change the rear bumper mounting system from brackets to shocks (this gives the gap which is filled by the rubber).

Presto its a '74 (if they don't check your VIN).

Early 74s had no filler. Late 74s did have the filler. It screwed to the metal filler below the grille.

older post i know but if you convert the rear bumper completely to a 74, you'll have to modify the panel behind the bumper with large holes, then fab bolt anchors into the frame rails for the bumper shocks. good bet to just leave bumper as is, alot of Mopar guys don't even know the 73-74 rear bumper shell was different.
