I have the motor out of my 69RR and at this time would like to replace clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing. I currently using a 12 inch McLeod set up and seem to be working well. I have a few miles on this clutch and seems to be fine , But feel that seeing that motor is out might as well put in new !! Any outer Clutch Brands Recommendations would be helpful.

Thanks Tom C.

He said it's a McLeod.

OP: You're running a 12" clutch? You will never be able to use up that clutch. Keep it. IIRC there weren't any passenger cars built with 12" clutches. It's a truck piece.
(Now watch someone prove me wrong on this!)

The Borg&Beck 11" and 12", plus the diaphragm 11" and 12" use the same flywheelbolt pattern. That's how I put the 12" clutch into my D100 instead of the stock 11".

The only problem with a 12" clutch disk is that it makes the synchronizers work harder. The 12" disk has more rotating inertia and so it's harder to slow it down or speed it up during the shifts.

The 11" would be better in that respect. You wouldn't even have to change the pressure plate.

But in the end, I think you should keep the $$$ and use it for something more important, like chrome valve covers!

I fully agree with the "If it ain't broke..." but I think I would at least have to have a look to see what condition its in. My experience with this sort of stuff is that if I take it apart for a look, it will be fine, but if I assume its good, its going to bite me a few weeks after the car is back on the road. Gene

If U want a Borg & Beck 3 finger setup from McLeod, U will need to look around they discontinued this several months back. Though I think some stock may still exist @ Brewers or Passon...

Just my $0.02... wink

They discontinued the pressure plate last year. Know one has them in stock. Believe me , I've called around. You can send the pressure plate to Mcleod and they will rebuild it for you.

This is what mine looked like. I just got a call from Mcleod and they said they can rebuild it. If it is out, rebuild it.

Mcleod sells a 11.95" B&B setup that fits an 11" flywheel, much like the 10.95 "scalloped" setup that Chrysler used.

I have 10.5 and 11 new in the box..because I use 10 puck iron disks with a sprung hub most of them have had the static pressure dropped down to 2000 lbs..
I don't know if they are any good to you

TOMRR, The type of set up you need depends on the application. Bigger is not always better. Disc material has came along ways from the old stock rag type which works well in stock applications. Kevlar / rag combination give better performance for some spirited driving. Kevlar/Kevlar disc has the grip that is some times hard to control chatter but will grab and last forever without wearing your pressure plate or flywheel surface. Then there's ceramic. It will hold the most torque but will wear the flywheel out like a grinder. Now multi disc set ups are another topic for people with more money than I have. I get my clutch stuff from AMERICAN POWERTRAIN. They can build you anything you want.

it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

I Agree, I have run this same set in my 69RR BEFORE ( All Street Driven) and have had no issues, The only reason I am changing it now I had some engine problem ( Had To Pull Motor)s and thought well it is apart seem like a good idea. Have to work on my back and the less I have to pull the 833 4-speed the better.
