The intake I was going to use with my TF 240 heads has the same runner size opening as the intake ports of the heads. I would like to port match the heads to the intake manifold but keep an anti reversion step in the intake runner. Since I don't want to weld or epoxy the runner floors I was thinking about raising the intake with gaskets. This would give me 1/8" step but the runner and port roofs wouldn't line up anymore.

Shall I raise the intake port roof to align it to the intake again? This would enlarge the port a bit. I don't have a flow bench though..

What are your thoughts on smoothing the CNC grooves in the intake and exhaust ports as well as the chamber (I would leave the intake port somewhat rough - 40-60 grit)?

Thanks

Why not bell mouth, grind the ports, on the heads to get the size step you want shruggy work scope twocents

My recommendation is to run the intake matched to the heads. If you want to make more power then have the intake ported.

Thanks guys! A bell mouth would not really increase the port volume but what about flow? It seems to be a trade off between anti-reversion and flow..
Should I concentrate on the port floor, slight work on the sides and none on the roof?

About the roughness I think I'll clean up the ports a bit after seeing the TF 270 heads which have much less pronounced CNC grooves.

get the heads and intake gaskets you plan on using. mount the heads. use a dab of silicon(between the heads and the intake gasket) and place your intake gaskets exactly where you want them on your heads. use just enough silicon to hold the gaskets where you want them. once the silicon is dry apply silicon to the intire intake gasket that is exposed. mount intake, let dry. now when you disassemble, gasket will be glued to your intake, showing you exactly where your head ports are in relationship to your intake ports. use putty knife to separate gasket from head. since this is not a max hp effort, leave the CNC ridges alone texture on port walls helps fuel stay suspended
