Well my friend and I are building a multi purpose race car (Road Race, Open Road Challenger/Silver State, etc.). The car we are starting with is a 68 Valiant running a NASCAR style R3/W8 engine and Texas Transmission backed up by a Ford 9 inch rear (for ease and expense of gear selections). The engine & Trans was purchased from Kaslowski racing in Michigan and was delivered last night by Jim Rhineheart (Rhinodart). It's been run (NASCAR Craftsman Truck series) and recently freshened but will be getting some changes before it's installed. At any rate we are excited to have one giant step out of the way on the build.

We are both thinking alike. I have built many 1/4 mile drag cars and want to try this myself, when and if I get the chance to build another car its going to be a high MPH car. I have wanted to run the silver state for some time now, was going to try it a few years back just to get my first year in as you can only go 125mph your first year. Theres a few of us on the board that want to do this kind of racing. Im very new to it at would love to hear some of your plans and others that are building some what the same kinda vehicles....good luck with it....Phill

Something like this? What brake setup are you going with?

Yes Andy, similar but probably a bit more extensive in terms of suspension and body mods, still undecided on many aspects, brakes included, we may go with an entire firewall forward clip/suspension/cage, etc. from a NASCAR.

I LOVE that red Valiant! VERY cool car.
