Can someone tell me how my door locks go in, should the rod be attached to the cylinder first, then inserted into the hole , then the rod attached to the door mechanism? if that is the order can someone tell me how to get the rod out of the door mechanism to attach it to the lock cylinder.. thanks guys

Welcome here. It's been awhile since I did one but iirc I had the outer end of the rod that hooks into the lock cyl right there at the lock hole in the sheetmetal by holding it in place with my hand inside the door then I hook the small hole in the lock flat lever onto the rod then maneauver that lock/rod assy in place in the door hole then drive the flat tang in place in the inside of the door to lock the lock assy to the door metal.
