Blade Runner is my favorite move of all time, so naturally, when I saw that there was a sequel in the works, I figured they'd find some way to screw it up.

Now, after reading the reviews and what little info there is about the plot, it appears that this one may live up to the best version of the original.

Anyone else going to watch it?

The original was exceptional, I plan on reading the reviews of the new flick and if it sounds like they have a clue I'll be going to see it.

It has a 94% on rottentomatoes with all of the top critics waxing poetic about how awesome it is. Consensus is that it is as thought provoking as the original and visually amazing.

The guy who directed it is the same guy who directed "Arrival."

BTW, plot details are very hard to find. The director requested that all reviewers be as vague as possible when to comes to giving out information.

I know that Vangelis isn't scoring this one...which was disappointing, but I'm keeping an open mind.

I will watch it, the original is on my top ten list of all time favorites... "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain... Time to die."

Yup, Blade Runner is brilliant and one of the all-time best, as far as I'm concerned. Narrating it like an old Chandler novel was a touch of genius, and I can go on and on.
Whether a sequel can stand up to the original is against the odds, but I'm intrigued.

I am definitely going this weekend. Just not sure when. My 14yo daughter is into sci-fi. We may have to sit and watch directors cut first, then go see it.

That line sent quivers down my spine! Made you feel like you where there with him. One of the last pictures I saw at the movie house (bad ears) a realistic future movie. Couldn't believe no one liked it at first but it did come alive. Sorry to say I can't watch it on the big screen, I'll have to wait for the DVD. I'd say that movie "made" Harrison Ford more so than Star Wars.

I'm not "going" to see it, I'll wait til it's available on Blu-ray and have it delivered by Netflix.

I've only seen chunks of the original over the years. Just never sat down and watched the whole thing.

From that era I also recall TRON and DUNE and the first ALIEN movie, which is still a favorite of mine.

I'll agree with "Alien" and I'll even say "Ok...I can see that" to "Tron."

But "Dune???" Oh man that was two hours and seventeen minutes of David Lynch saying "Hey...I did the best I could...you shoulda stuck with Jodorowsky."

I was so excited to watch "Dune" back in '84...but when I walked into the theater and they handed me a glossary sheet, I knew it was gonna be awful!

Dune was an epic book and a colossal disappointment as a movie.

That was the point of the movie, though. Deckard had been sent to kill a replicant. In his eyes...a machine. The thing was, that Blatty was not a machine, he had come back to earth to try to extend his 4 year lifespan. He valued life as much as Deckard did and he proved it by saving Deckard's life. So..was Blatty TRULY a bad guy?

As much as I'd love to see this on the big screen, I will likely wait for the blu ray. I can no longer justify paying that much to sit in an auditorium full of rude dicks and dickettes who insist on talking and texting their way through half the movie.

Beside.... I have better audio and tequila at home. biggrin
