California is so far out of whack from the rest of the country, they should just go on and secede from the Union. Shame it's gone from cool to crap.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

This is my local 1/8 th mile track that I will do my farewell 6.0 pass on if everything goes well.........w/all of the tracks closing, it makes street racing the only other choice........... down

Saw that today. They did that on Long Island before I moved. Then, everyone complained about all of the street racing. Maybe it's me, but what did everyone think was going to happen if you close down all of the race tracks. Everyone would buy a Prius???

SoCal is down to 2 tracks.... Fontana and Barona.

I've never run Irwindale. They're scheduling really caters to locals. No prob with that, just really no races a guy would travel to.

I'll never forget after they closed Detroit dragway. They were bitching about street racing on the news and the dumb ass reporter says "don't know why this is such an issue, they use to have a place to race". Had absolutely no clue what she just said..

We are the closest to a new track on Long Island than we have been since you left 14 years ago!

Bakersfield is in SO CA shruggy
At least it is in what I consider SO CA, anything from Fresno north to Red Bluff is central and north of Red Bluff is northern CA,
900 miles long divided into thirds work
I can remember racing at Indio on the street legals, Thermal, Riverside, Colton to watch, Fontana, Irwindale 1/4 and 1/8 mile, GAFB, Inyo Kern, LACR, Orange county, Carlsbad, Barona, Bakersfield but I never raced or went to Lions, stupid me realcrazy Maybe some others I'm not remembering now confused
Dragstrips are like small airports, they are both dying whiney

According to the net Famoso is indeed considered to be in the realm of "SoCal".... I stand corrected Mr. Cabifornia laugh2

LACR was still alive for many years when we moved out west. I just heard so many horror stories about it that I never went. My bad...

Irwindale is my local track also. I'ts not the greatest but it is a place to race. Looks like I'll be driving over an hour to Fontana from now on. I STILL miss LACR.
Yet another reason for me to move, I suppose.... laugh2

Even if it's 3 tracks, that's one more track than in the entire state of Arizona! One of the reasons why I don't race anymore. frown

Coming from sodak our "home" track was right at a 4hr drive. It's always required a modest effort to go racing for me.

Maybe Pomona will have more races? Don't know why they don't have an ET series there?

Bakersfield is not So Cal... That mountain range is the separator.

Bako is Central California if running thirds. That's the way most of the Californians look at the central valley.

Pomona isn't going to have more events. The locals hate the events they already have!

I hear that Jay the 12 mile drive to Irwindale is exhausting to me. biggrin
There are a ton of rumours about this tracks future. The property has huge ground/soils issues a "mall" is highly unlikely.

There is still a small chance something positive will happen here, just not with the current track operator.

I agree with your analogy, but the almighty wiki disagrees smile

I'd like to do that Mooneyes Christmas party thing, but I'm betting it will be a madhouse.

The Siera (SP)(educated in CA whistling) Mtns. stop at Cal City, Antelope Valley area and the San Gabriel Mtns. start 20 miles south shruggy
Bakersfield is due west from Cal City, the Pacific Mtn. range does the same basic thing ending at the bottom of the Grapevine north of Magic Mtn. shruggy
I read the Wiki link, I though there where a lot more people in L.A. County than that when we moved out of SO CA in 2005 confused work

From the same WIKI

" Another definition for southern California uses Point Conception and the Tehachapi Mountains as the northern boundary."

Ask people in Bako if they are SoCal... Not one of the guys I know that live in that area say they are.

Your right ,none of those farmers, ranchers or oil well workers would ever admit to being from SO CA whistling grin

For me or irwindale 20 miles. Pomona Raceway 30 miles.. Fontana Raceway 55 miles.. borona 119 miles.. and Bakersfield 155 MI.. Las Vegas 250 miles.. Sacramento 400 miles. they also have a no prep race up at Willow Springs.. which is probably 130 miles.. there are still places to race it's just getting a little tougher.. oh and by the way please don't confuse me with anybody north of the Grapevine..hahaha
