-2* of camber sounds just about right. This looks like a darned easy way to get some.

Any concerns here? Has anyone seen these in person? Are they just 3mm or so thick washers?

Not sure where having 2 or more degrees of camber is a needful thing.

Caster, sure, camber? Seems a good way to tear up a set of tires.

They say there is always the exception that proves the rule.
Don't be the exception.

Yes. Excessive camber definitely eats tires but contact patch under cornering load is the name of the game...particularly for the folks in this forum.

Basically, negative camber compensates for the inevitable geometry changes while cornering and keeps more rubber on the road/track.

-2* is relatively mild for a dedicated handling set up. I suspect that any negative camber that we can get up front is extra valuable since the only way to get that in the rear is not going to help the longevity of your drivetrain. laugh

Those are made by AR Engineering. The Red Brick has them. If you want handling and don't care about tire wear so much, go for it.

67' is an abbreviation of 67 feet
They are not interchangeable.

Just go to your local hardware store and get some grade 8 washers. Not to take $$ out of Andy's pocket, so buy his excellent book with the cash you save.

Thanks.

I have heard people mention the Red Brick many times...this is somehow related to (or inspired by) the Green Brick Valiant, I assume?

As for tire wear; I don't know about you guys but if my Dart gets even 800 miles in a year, it would be reason to celebrate. Tire wear isn't a huge concern for me and probably not for many of us in this section of Moparts! cool In any case,I'm rolling on fresh BFG Radial T/A no-season compound radials...my last set were 17 years old before I got rid of them. Bring on the wear!

Yes, these are low-grip tires but I'd also hope that folks here also know that grip and handling are not the same thing. Besides, those tires need as reliable of a contact patch as we can give them.

Just for some reference, I have 200 treadwear 285/35/19s on the front of my 2011 Mustang GT. Using the (questionable) Eibach Camber Bolts and GT500 strut mounts rotated 180*, I was able to get just over -1.5* camber...and I've been wailing through corners for almost 12,000 miles on those soft compound tires and that alignment. While they're showing some signs of wearing on the inside shoulder...they're fine for another few thousand. Not bad for that class of tire. I'm not worried about the BFGs.

I have wondered about these spacers too. It seems that using these (Or something slightly thinner) along with Moog K-7103 offset UCA bushings would allow you to have some acceptable amount of negative camber and a bunch more caster. Since the alignment cams allow such a little range of adjustment, little tricks like these can help fine tune the settings while allowing the car to maintain OEM durability of stock based parts.
Being cheap always helps as well.

We tried washers and the OD is too large so I had thick spacers with the correct OD made. We used them on Tim's Valiant and they worked so I just had some extras made and put them on the shelf. I only sell a few sets a year so it isn't much of a money maker but they don't take up much space on the shelf and they don't go bad over time so I keep them in the product line.

Thanks, guys!
Did some reading up on the Red Brick build and I do believe that I've seen it around on the forums, etc...but it was great to learn some of the details. That car is an inspiration!

I'm very grateful for the pioneers in our hobby who figure stuff out and share their knowledge. Supporting them by buying their books and parts that they develop seems like a good way to say thanks.

I will definitely order up a set.

And FWIW, Camber on the new Scatpack, SRT and HellKitty Chargers and Challengers specs between 1-5 and 2.5* of Camber and 10* of Caster on the front and a degree or so on the rear.
So 2* on a older Mopar will not kill your tires in 50 miles.

Never a shortage of bad info on this forum. SMH

This lines up with what I've heard. It also goes without saying that a Hellcat is HELL on tires (front and rear) thanks to the weight and power levels so if your tires are holding up, this is a valuable data point.

Guys who track S197 Mustangs like mine often install camber plates to get them up to -3* IMO, that seems to be on the high end of what you'd want on a daily driver but so long as you know what you're getting yourself into, it's great.

Yeah the camber spacers are a crude version of the Mustang camber plates. When you're working with 50 year old suspension designs you just have to do what you have to do.

Some people run thin wheel spacers when an "off the shelf" wheel doesn't quite fit. I always thought that these spacers would be an easy way to get a little extra clearance without having to use a wheel spacer.

Instead of an 1/8" wheel spacer, you could use the camber spacers(move bottom of tire out) and adjustable UCAs.(to move the top of the tire out)

What does that do to your kingpin angle?
