Just ran my first autocross I am hooked. need to upgrade rear suspension. have 5.7 hemi with 545rfe trans, alterkation front suspension, rear is 8.8 w/3:73. stock(original) leaf springs (50 years old) with highjacker shocks. What would be a better upgrade. composite,4-5 link. or leaf springs and what shocks if I go with leaf. All input is appreciated. I don't realy want to spend 2k on it. I know I have spent alot up front but kids are in college soooo yeh I am broke.

Ideally, you would fab in a 3-link for autocross, it's really not that difficult. I like the design of the Hotchkis Leafs and adjustable shocks as the cheaper bolt in option.

I think Tom nailed it...go check out Hotchkis and start writing checks.

It sounds like you're having a blast...any pictures/videos would be very welcome.

Did you do the 5.7 swap yourself? How did it go?

Sounds like a fun car. Frankly anything would be an upgrade over worn out springs and air shocks. Spend some time going through the forum there are some guys with well working cars. Here's one 67 Valiant Budget Build and can't forget the legendary Red Brick , autoxcuda has a well sorted car that he's been driving for a long time. check out Firm Feel as well, they are Mopar guys and will spend some time with you. HTH, Steve

Thanks greatly appreciated. Yes I did the swap myself in my garage about 7 years ago have done the power tour and driven to the MATS in Vages and in July drove it to Carlisle PA for the Nationals. It wasn't as bad as people think doing the swap. It took a few years and did it the cheapest way I could find. I will post some pics. The best thing I did was put BMW power seats in it.

The Red Brick uses nothing more than old 340 springs in back, along with Bilstein shocks, adjustable rear sway bay (from a Newer Mustang I think) and a 1" drop spring hanger. But with that said, the car is also built to handle and the weight has been reduced, moved, etc.
