Hey guys, the steering shaft is my Valiant had got collapsed, I'm pulling it back out, does anyone know the length it is supposed to be?, and from where it smeasured?, ( from end to end or from after the threads etc).

There are a bunch of threads on this in the Q&A section... If memory serves me it's like 43 or 43-1/2 inches overall. Hook a tape inside the hole where the column comes out and measure to the where the coupler will end up on the input shaft on the steering box. Push the bracket up to the stops on the column and measure again from the bracket to the end of the coupler. You should be able to make those two measurements close to equal.

I will look into the Q&A archives, I have the shaft out of the column and it out of the car, reassembling the car after paint. Thought about tacking the shaft at the slip point before installing back into the column.

I had to lengthen my shaft as well when I went from power to manual in my A-body. I didn't bother tacking it back together because it can't go anywhere once it's bolted in.
