I like the way he put the crank (sorta) on a pan giving the illusion he needed the pan to catch all that residual oil.... looks dry as a bone!

Today I bought a 75 440, 71 440, 64 383 HP, 69 383, 71 340, and a 75 318 that looks fresh plus the transmissions for them all for $1200. up It was all my single axle 7x12 trailer could take! He threw in 2 engine stands and a few more sets of heads, plus a bunch of other parts, so they are still out there... penguin

You couldn't even give me a 383 engine. Now if someone wanted to pay me to take a 383 off their hands I might do that but no way am I paying money for one. $1500 is silly. A 383 might move for $150 but even then I doubt it. I tried to sell 906 heads for $100 a pair a few years back and didn't have any takers. I ended up scrapping about 20 sets of cast iron heads. 383 blocks aren't worth much more than scrap at this point.

I had a stock bore 69HP 383 block only with caps last year at the Nats and felt like I gave it away for $80. No way is that one worth $1500 but we all know some people are delusional. There was a guy around here a few years ago that went to jail for a few years and his woman had his price list of stuff to sell and the 383's were $750+. Probably still sitting in his basement.:)

I have a E383 block which has the bosses above the oil pump for the motor mount. If the bosses were drilled and tapped then they would work in an A body. VIN wouldn't match of course........

I can check the casting date if you want. Or are you looking for a D383 block with a late casting date?

I sold an early '69 383 bare block with 906 heads and a six pack intake for $650 today. Guy with a '69 RR wanted the block and heads and thought the intake was cool. I threw in some tin and a cast crank. I didn't have a 383 forged crank. The intake costs $400 new so he got the block and heads for $200 which seems fair. $50 for the engine dolly. Crank and tin were free in my mind.
