I understand NASCAR engines are built precisely and with everything fitting tightly and exactly. However, rather than producing 800 hp if building a 600 hp street engine what are the main points that get you close to the sound out of a small block? I've heard two small block Mopars on the street that have that NASCAR sound. One of the cars was a Challenger I think Hotchkis had on the Power Tour three years ago.

The exhaust system, compression ratio and camshaft have a lot to do with the exhaust sounds shruggy

Nascar does not use mufflers tsk
They use "Boom Tubes", not mufflers scope

The way to get the correct sound and to get to that point more directly and quickly, even out of a stock OEM engine is to use 180-Degree headers for some serious exhaust scavenging. Adding in other common performance modifications and parts will certainly make it rev faster and higher which will help.

The higher the compression ratio the healthier an engine will sound, and run.

The current set up makes for a good street/strip car that has provided years of reliable service but when I am pulling through a crowded cruise-in and people walking in front can't hear me coming through that is frustrating. Just struggling with a coming up with a new identity for this car.

Lengthy video, but they take this car for a test drive at the end and it sounds pretty serious. You'd have to be deaf to not notice it.

I have a MP 528" Hemi with a full TTI system that had a nice bark to the exhaust. I swapped out the cam to a slightly less aggressive solid roller and now the exhaust note is far less aggressive, almost too docile however it runs great and makes more power.

Yes I agree. I like what they have to offer. Side exhaust is wicked cool and the sound would be like nothing else around here. Could be the end of date nights in the Charger to the big city with the wife but I doubt she'd care.

cup cars are 12.5 to 1, unless they've gone back up to 14... 9500 rpm and long, straight tubes are a big part of it, i would think.

for what is the good life if not doing things thoughtfully?

Who cares about the wife, will the girlfriend ride with you after the changes devil work
Just kidding about all of that whistling
I have a customer who is a show car cruiser guy, he installed a set of 3.0 inch electric cut outs and uses them to get the attention of the dumber people stumbling around in the show car crowds around here work up
He never revs it up, he opens them up for a second or two and then closes them quickly and doesn't even look like he knows where the noise is coming from work shruggy
